Rockets ready for versatile Cardinals team

By Les Abbott

The Shelby County football season begins its 2019 season Saturday as the Rockets travel to Lincoln County High School to face Wayne County in the PBK Death Valley Bowl.

Last season the Cardinals went 8-4 and lost to Franklin County in the second round of the 4A KHSAA playoffs. The Cardinals’ offense features a potent one-two punch in the backfield. Quarterback Brody Weaver passed for 2,070 yards and 29 touchdowns while Braedon Sloan led the rushing attack with 1,120 yards and 15 touchdowns.
