Tuesday tidbits

Here are a few tidbits for Tuesday:

1. Apparently the Big East could add six teams today.

2. Great Halloween costume idea!

3. I hope Kris Humphries gets the engagement ring back.

Three for Wednesday night

Here are three quick items for Wednesday night:

1. Just when it looked like Louisville had jumped the shark suddenly it appears to be back in the Big 12 mix. My guess is the school will get there eventually (there's no way the Big 12 will stick to 10 teams, it'll want the big payday of having a championship game so it'll expand to 12 once again), but I don't know if it'll be tomorrow, next week, next month or next year.

My NFL Top 10

After an absence of a week I'm dusting off my NFL Top 10:

1. Packers (7-0) - Simply the best, better than all the rest. Tina Turner should right a song with that chorus.

2. Patriots (5-1) - A bye week only helps this team.

3. Saints (5-2) - 62-7, really?! 62-7?!

4. 49ers (5-1) - We'll see how they bounce back off that emotional victory over the Lions, and a bye.

5. Steelers (5-2) - We'll start to find out how good they are at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, when they host the Patriots.

My college football Top 10

Here's my college football Top 10 for this week:

1 (tie). LSU (8-0) & Alabama (8-0) - Nov. 5 here we come!

3. Oklahoma State (7-0) - Will the Cowboys get the winner between the Tigers and the Tide in the BCS national championship game?

4. Clemson (8-0) - Quietly, but steadily moving up. If the Tigers can win at Georgia Tech on Saturday night they should have clear sailing under a Thanksgiving Saturday game at South Carolina.

Collins football playoff glance

Here are the football playoff pairings for Collins when the Class 4A postseason begins Nov. 4. As long as they win the Titans will have "home field" advantage (at Shelby County's Robert Doyle Stadium) throughout the first three rounds.

CLASS 4A, REGION 2 BRACKET

No. 4 Moore (2-2, 4-5) vs. No. 1 Collins (4-0, 7-2) at SCHS

No. 3 Spencer County (2-2, 3-6) at No. 2 Doss (2-2, 2-7)

No. 3 Valley (2-2, 3-6) at No. 2 North Oldham (3-1, 8-1)

Five for Friday

Here are five for Friday morning:

1. So the Kentucky men's basketball team starts the season as the preseason No. 2 team in the country...will anything less than finishing No. 1 be enough for the Wildcat faithful?

2. I spied some "big wigs" checking out the Collins football field earlier this week. With winter quickly approaching you've got to think that any repairing of the turf field won't come until the spring. But then again they knew about the current field problems this past spring and it still sits vacant...

UK No. 2, UofL No. 8 in first coaches poll

The University of Kentucky men's basketball team is ranked No. 2 in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll released today.

What do you think? Should the Wildcats be No. 1? Are the Cardinals too low? Or too high?

Monday morning five

Here are five for Monday morning:

My college football Top 10

I'm going to try and keep up-to-date with my blog posts (at least one a day, but hopefully more), so with that in mind here is my college football Top 10 for this week after a not-too-surprising Saturday. Plus the first BCS Standings came out today.

1 (tie). LSU (7-0) & Alabama (7-0) - The Tigers were only percentage points (.0003 to be exact) ahead of the Crimson Tide in the first BCS Standings, so I'm sticking with my rankings of having the two tied for the top spot in my poll.

Five for Friday night

Here are five items for late Friday night:

1. Shelby County's home football game against Bullitt East next Friday is big for several reasons, but mostly because if the Rockets lose they'll finish last in the district and have to travel to John Hardin for the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
