Thursday First 4

Here my first four for Thursday:

1. Still can't believe how hard the NFL came down on Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints...and the Tim Tebow trade to the Jets too.

2. Finally, after a long three days absence, the NCAA Tournament in back! The only sure thing I see out of tonight's games is Ohio State over Cincinnati, the other ones are more difficult to call. Louisville and Michigan State could especially be interesting, and close, but I just can't see the Cardinals knocking off the Spartans.

Wednesday's First 4

It's time to dust off the old blog again because - to steal a line from one of my favorite Steve Carell movies - I'm afraid if I don't use it I might lose it. So here's a quick glance at Wednesday.

1. The big news of the day, and so far the week, is the (cough, cough) resignation of Shelby County boys' basketball coach Rick Parsons.

10 things I predict and/or hope we'll see on Selection Sunday

Here are 10 things I predict and/or hope we'll see tomorrow on Selection Sunday, when the 68-team field is announced for the NCAA Tournament:

1. Kentucky and Western Kentucky will be set up to meet in the second round in Louisville as long as the Hilltoppers win their First Four game Tuesday in Dayton.

2. The bracket will almost certainly be set up so Kentucky will have a third-round game against Memphis. John Calipari's former team, which is coached by his former assistant Josh Pastner, will probably either be an 8 or 9 seed.

Oh the Lin-sanity!

Twitter was blowing up about New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin on Friday night when the Knicks beat the Lakers. It's a great story, what's not to love? Here's a look back at his week. And if those highlights aren't enough for you here are some more.

Collins' two new transfers

Well folks the 8th Region boys' basketball race just got a lot more interesting, and probably a lot more competitive too.

That's because this week Collins welcomed two new transfers into its program. Six-three senior Norvis Smith and his 6-6 brother Terez, a junior, moved to Simpsonville from Michigan with their family (their dad got a job at Ford in Louisville) on Super Bowl Sunday.

Rick Pitino needs to apologize

Rick Pitino owes C.L. Brown an apology. A big one.

Friday fun

Here are some fun items for Friday:

County scoring leaders

Here are the current county scoring leaders updated through tonight's games:

1. Bryan Wallace (Shelby County) - The speedy sophomore has scored 250 points in 13 games for a 19.2 points per game average.

Early Friday five...

My apologies, I had a migraine and went straight to sleep after getting home from the Collins-South Oldham boys' basketball game, so I didn't get a chance to Tweet the final score. So here it is along with four other quick items.

1. The Dragons outscored the Titans 26-10 in the fourth quarter to beat Collins 77-62.

2. Here's one final story about a UK fan who was injured during the UK-IU men's basketball game last Saturday.
