Ivers keys Rockets by North

For a second it looked like Elizabeth Ivers’ hardest hit of the game might have been off her own face mask.

Ivers, an eighth-grader, on the Shelby County softball team fouled the first pitch right off her face before delivering a clutch two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Rockets a 4-3 win over North Oldham Monday.

“After I did that I just told myself I am going to get a hit now,” Ivers said. “I knew I was going to be fine.”
