  • Wiley makes it official

    Shelby County golfer Candice Wiley made her commitment official on Friday, signing her letter-of-intent to play golf for the University of Louisville next year.

    “U of L was an instant fit,” she said. “It’s a top academic school, a great team, and I knew from the start that I wanted to be a part of a fast-growing U of L women’s golf team.”

    Wiley has been a major player on the state scene for a long time.

  • Eden, Rockets in the running for...

    The KHSAA State Cross Country Meet will begin with Class A races at 9:15 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday morning.

    Shelby County will run in the Class 3A races, with the boys starting at approximately 1:30 p.m. and the girls ending the day of races at 2:15 p.m.

  • Oldham too much for Shelby

    Shelby County got down early and couldn't recover in a 3-0 loss to Oldham County in the 8th Region Championship at Oldham County on Wednesday.

    Oldham's Jacob Kemper took a pass from Shawn Parker and lofted a shot over SCHS keeper David Breen and into the side net for a 1-0 lead less than 40 seconds into the first half, forcing the Rockets to play from behind all night.

    "We just weren't sharp coming out of the gate," SCHS Coach B.J. Andriot said. "You can't give him [Kemper] a look from anywhere, because he'll take it."

  • Rockets pull away from CAL

    The SCHS boys' soccer team used a 4-1 victory over Christian Academy Louisville on Monday to advance to tonight's 8th Region championship game at Oldham County High School.

    "These guys really wanted it tonight," SCHS Coach B.J. Andriot said. "It was unbelievable - their intensity was amazing."

    SCHS will play host Oldham at 7 o'clock.

  • Karas raising the bar

    SCHS cross-country coach Slone Barnett said she knew freshman Caterina Karas was pretty good.

    Barnett had watched her in practice, and Karas' old coach had called before the season, telling her a little about the Rockets' new runner. But Barnett said she had no idea what she really had until the first race.

  • Bearcats slip past Rockets

    A controversial foul call led to two Anderson County free throws with less than five seconds remaining in the game, sealing a 46-42 win over the visiting Rockets in Saturday's annual 30th District grudge match.

    Shelby County led 21-20 at the break, but Anderson County took the lead early in the third quarter, forcing Shelby to play catchup throughout the second half.

  • Eastern rolls over Rockets, 48-25

    The highlights for Shelby County were few and far between on Friday, when the Rockets traveled to Eastern High School.

    The Eagles (6-1) sprinted out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back, whipping Shelby County (0-7,) 48-25.

    The Rockets will travel to Madison Central (6-1, 1-1) this week for their last shot at a district victory

  • Eden wins regional meet

    The SCHS cross country teams were led by two dominating individual performances during Saturday's regional meet at Seneca Park in Louisville.

    Stacey Eden led the boys' team, taking first overall with a time 15:55. Eden pulled away over the final mile, finishing nearly 20 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.

    The girls' were led by Caterina Karas' second-place finish. Karas stayed on Emma Brink's heels the whole race. Brink, a Sacred Heart runner, finished just 12 seconds ahead of Karas.
