  • Christmas Parade needs floats

    Shelbyville's annual Christmas parade will be held in Shelbyville on Dec. 5, and the parade is encouraging groups to enter floats.

    Assistant Shelby County Fire Chief Jeff Ivers, who is heading up the organization of the parade, said civic groups and organizations are encouraged to join the parade this year.

    "Our theme this year is Christmas Magic, and we will be giving first-, second- and third-place prizes for floats," he said.

  • Rockets run to top 10 in State Meet

    LEXINGTON – Rockets senior Stacey Eden wasn't pleased with his individual performance, but that disappointment eased a little with his team’s ninth-place finish in the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday afternoon.

    "I think they did a great job," he said. "We trained our butts off all season. It seems like we had pretty much the best race we've had all season."

     H1N1 immunizations

    for target groups today

    The Shelby County Health Department will provide H1N1 influenza vaccine from noon to 2:30 p.m. today. The vaccine will be available to eligible population on first come, first serve basis. The clinic will follow the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations and administer vaccine to the following target groups:
