Two members of a family that was arrested Jan. 5 in a local theft ring have fled to Canada, said Shelbyville Police Chief Robert Schutte.

Evelyn Montez and Vielman Palencia Turcois are wanted in connection with a string of thefts that occurred in Shelby County toward the end of last year.

Police arrested five people in connection with those thefts—all Hispanics: Angel Palencia, Rosbin Palencia, Marvin Palencia, Edna Guterrez and Ariana Hernandez.

Traffic-Related

Edwin T. Karem, 47, of 3111 Bank Street in Louisville, was arrested Feb. 5 at 220 Frankfort Road and charged with DUI under aggravating circumstances, third offense, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle.

Nadia Lozpez, 22, of unknown address, was arrested Feb. 5 at Main and Ashland and charged with no operator’s license and no insurance.

Charles Richmond III of 1005 High Street in Shelbyville was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Theresa Parrish, aka Theresa Richmond of 1005 High Street in Shelbyville was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Curtis E. Ellis of 3102 Sunnyside Road in Smithfield was indicted for second-degree robbery, complicity.
