  • Police seek woman for information

    Shelbyville Police are attempting to locate a Shelby County woman to get more information about a crime that  she is a victim of, they said.

    Police are trying to contact Angel M. Samples, 26, whose last known address was 81 Kent St. No. 8 in Shelbyville.

    She is described as a white female, 5 feet tall and weighing 152 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

    Anyone who knows the whereabouts of this woman is asked to call Shelbyville Police at 633-2326.

  • Shelby County Sheriffs Reports Sept. 7, 2011

    DUI

    Penelope A. Rodgers, 50, of 1315 Oak Ridge Court in Simpsonville was arrested July 31 at 1300 Oak Ridge Court and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense and having an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle.

    Guillermo T. Huerta, 25, of 416 E. Washington St. No. 4 in La Grange was arrested July 30 on Harrington Mill Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol under aggravating circumstances, first offense and no operator's license.

  • Ohio truck driver dies on I-64 in Shelby County

    The driver of a tractor-trailer truck was killed Tuesday morning when he drove his rig through a guardrail and ended up in a ravine on westbound Interstate 64.

    Randall Thornton, 50, of Ohio, the truck’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Deputy Coroner Jeff Ivers.

  • 2 dead on Shelby roads

    Two are dead in separate collisions Tuesday morning on Shelby County roadways.

    Randall Thornton of Ohio died when the tanker truck he was driving ran off I-64 westbound and into a ravine. He was dead at the scene.

    Thornton’s rig struck a parked vehicle just east of Shelbyville near the 35-mile marker. The spilled products and recovery of the mangled rig forced state employees to shut down one lane of the road, which continued into the evening.

    A 3-vehicle crash on Elmburg Road claimed the life of George W. Downs, 74, of Bagdad.

    Assault

     

    Tana Malone of 138 Sherry Dive was arrested Aug. 29 at 1843 Oakwood Drive and charged with third-degree assault on a police office and resisting arrest.

     

    Burglary

     

    Nicholas R. Poole, 26, of 7931 Elmburg Road in Bagdad was arrested  Aug. 30 at 303 Main St. and charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.

  • Public’s help sought in copper thefts

    Crime Stoppers is appealing to the public for help in apprehending whoever is responsible for a rash of recent copper thefts.

    The thefts having been occurring around the city county for the past few weeks, and usually involve the theft of copper tubing from commercial air-conditioning units, police say.

    The latest thefts occurred early Tuesday morning in Stonecrest off Midland Trail and at the Town Centre shopping center in Simpsonville.

  • Simpsonville man arrested for domestic violence

    A St. Matthews police officer who lives in Simpsonville is on paid administrative leave after being arrested Friday on domestic violence charges.

    Frank Jeffcoat, 37, was arrested by Kentucky State Police for fourth-degree assault after an argument with his wife, said Ron Turley, spokesperson for KSP.

    Dennis McDonald, spokesperson for the St. Matthews PD, said Jeffcoat will remain on paid administrative leave until the conclusion of KSP’s investigation and the court case.

  • Shelby County Sheriffs Reports Aug. 31, 2011

    DUI

    Gary T. Douthitt, 60, of 62 Seminole Drive was arrested June 27 on Seminole Drive and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, second offense, driving on a DUI suspended license under aggravated circumstances, first offense, failure to notify the department of transportation of an address change and operating a vehicle with an expired operator's license.
