  • Shelby man dies after Being struck by car

     

     

    A Shelbyville man died Monday afternoon at University of Louisville Hospital from multiple injuries after being hit by Jeep after Thunder Over Louisville Saturday night.

    According to Louisville Metro Police Public Information Officer Dwight Mitchell, a witness saw Michael Purnell, 22, of Shelbyville veer into traffic at 3730 River Road in Louisville.

  • I-64 crash shuts down interstate in Simpsonville

    A collision between a tractor-trailer and a pick-up truck on I-64 in Simpsonville Tuesday morning sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries, said Shelby County Assistant EMS Director Jeff Ivers.

    The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is heading up the investigation into the accident and did not return phone calls from The Sentinel-News seeking information on the accident.

    The crash occurred in the eastbound lane of I-64 near mile marker 29 at 5:50 a.m., said officials at Shelby County Central Dispatch.

  • Two injured in Eminence Pike Crash

    Two people were injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the 2700 block of Eminence Pike.

    Both drivers, Wallace Shouse, 46, of Pleasureville and Aryk Arington, 22, of Eminence were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital after being removed from their vehicles by crews using hydraulic rescue tools.

    Shouse is listed in critical but stable condition and hospital officials said that Arington is no longer a patient.

    Judy L. Hampton, 51, of 7113 Greenwich Road in Louisville was arrested Feb. 17 on Midland Trail and charged with operating on a suspended operator’s license, no registration receipt, no registration plates and failure to produce an insurance card.

    Shelbyville Police have charged Chivez M. Johnson, 20, with first-degree robbery and impersonating a police officer.

  • Police say man tries to run over man with car three times

    A Shelbyville man was arrested Thursday after police say he took his girlfriend’s car without permission, drove to his ex-girlfriend’s house and tried to run over her current boyfriend.

    Marvin A. Palmer, 56, of 117 Fairview Drive in Waddy was arrested Jan. 31 at that address and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs .

    Jeremy W. Edwards, 27, of 290 Hyatts Store Road in Bagdad was arrested Feb. 14 on Cross Keys Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol under aggravating circumstances, first offense.

    Aaron J. McDaniel, 26, of 100 S. Winter Drive in Midway was served Jan. 2 at the Shelby County Detention Center with an Anderson County warrant for probation violation for a felony offense.

    Ciereon Thompson, 19, of 1000 Detention Road was served Jan. 23 at that address with a Shelby County warrant for first-degree robbery and retaliating against a witness in a legal process.

    Robert A. Walls, 22, of 1000 Detention Road was served Jan. 23 at that address with a Shelby County warrant for an unstated charge.
