  • Putnam has court hearing Monday

    Terry Putnam, the Simpsonville Police officer arrested Jan. 7 in connection with the November robbery of the police department, will appear in Shelby Circuit Court for a disposition hearing Monday.

    At that time, he will receive another court date in the progression of his case.

  • Man charged with murder in fiery crash has hearing Monday

    Miroslav Kuzmanovic, who was indicted in July 2015 for murder and other charges in connection with a fatal accident on I-64, will appear for a pre-trial hearing in Shelby Circuit Court Monday.

    He is scheduled for a jury trial June 13.

  • Embezzlement cases to get new court dates

    Two prominent embezzlement cases from 2015 will be back on the docket this month.

    Jenny King, the former finance officer for the Shelby County Fiscal Court, charged with embezzling more than $23,000, and Theresa M. Augustine, a former assistant administrator and firefighter who was indicted on theft-related charges, will both receive new dates when they appear for disposition hearings in Shelby Circuit Court Monday.

    King is charged with stealing money from the county’s general fund over an 18-month period from April 2013 to December 2014.

  • Jeep crashes into Landmark mailbox

    The driver of this Jeep LIberty was transported to Jewish Hospital Shelbyville with unknown injuries after ramming a brick mailbox in front of Landmark Community Newspapers shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday. The woman, an employee of Kentucky Car Wash across the street from Landmark had been driving the vehicle out of a bay when the accelerator stuck and the jeep shot forward, out of the lot, across the street and into the Landmark lot.

  • King gets new court date in embezzlement case

    Jenny King of Shelby County, a former longtime finance officer for the Shelby County Fiscal Court, charged with embezzling more than $23,000, has received a new court date of June 6.

    King, charged with stealing the money from the county’s general fund over an 18-month period from April 2013 to December 2014, received the new hearing date at her disposition hearing in Shelby Circuit Court on Monday. The new date is also for a disposition hearing.

  • No one injured in house fire

    An early morning blaze caused heavy smoke damage and some fire damage to a home in eastern Shelby County.

    The fire occurred at 1:17 a.m. at 241 Doctors Drive, with the Shelby County Fire Department responding.

    Assistant Chief Jeff Ivers said that the residents of the home, Raymond Fleck, and his wife and daughter, were out of the house by the time firefighters arrived, having been awakened by the smoke alarm. 

    Two pets, however, perished, a cat and a dog.
