  • Shelbyville Police warrants July 9, 2014

    Yusaf A. Austin, 41, of 800 Main St. was arrested June 12 at 6th and Henry Clay streets on Shelby County warrant for an unstated charge.

    Greg L. Horn, 46, of 605 10th St. was arrested June 6 at that address on an Oldham County warrant for an unstated charge.

    Winter Rogers, 34, of 5156 Mill Road in Mount Eden was arrested June 14 at 820 Magnolia St. on a Shelby County warrant for an unstated charge.

  • Semi gets stuck on railroad tracks

    A tractor-trailer loaded with furniture got stuck when it tried to cross the railroad tracks on Fields Lane, police said.

    Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy Fred Rothenburger said that the United Van Lines truck was heavily loaded with furniture that was being delivered to a home on Timberwood Drive.

    Alexis Rubles, 23, of 373 Henry St. in Eminence was arrested June 24 at 20 Mount Tabor Court and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol under aggravating circumstances, third offense, second-degree wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.

    Pamela M. Broyles, speeding 16 mph over limit, no/expired registration plates, no/expired Kentucky registration receipt and first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security – guilty – $765 fine and costs.

  • Shelby County Grand Jury Indictments July 2, 2014

    David Walker, 38, of Greenview Motel was indicted for first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, intimidating a witness in a legal process and fourth-degree assault.

  • Shelbyville man charged with child porn

    James E. Faust of Shelbyville was arrested Monday on child pornography charges following an investigation by Kentucky State Police.

    Lt. Christopher Crockett said that Faust, 55, is charged with one count of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor, first offense, with further charges to be presented to the Shelby County Grand Jury.

    KSP spokesperson Les Williams said that on Monday at 8:25 p.m., the Electronic Crime Branch, with the assistance of Post 12 in Frankfort, arrested Faust.

  • Arson suspected in Meadowbrook fire

    Arson is suspected in a blaze Tuesday night that damaged a house on Shelbyville’s east end just before midnight.

    Officials at the Shelby County Fire Department said that at 11:55 p.m., crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 1351 Dotland Circle in the Meadowbrook subdivision.

    Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Ivers said that crews extinguished the fire quickly, and though the home sustained heavy smoke damage throughout, fire damage was confined to only one room.

    Nancy Davis owns the property and was renting it to a couple, Ivers said.

  • Patient steals ambulance, crashes near Waddy

    No one was injured Tuesday when a patient being taken to the hospital by ambulance stole the vehicle and crashed it in Waddy, police said.

    Kentucky State Police said that shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, they were called about the theft of an American Medical Response ambulance that had been taking a patient from Baptist Health Richmond to Our Lady of Peace in Louisville, which offers adult psychiatric services.

    David W. Grider Jr., 25, of 931 Brentwood Ave. in Louisville was arrested May 9 on Lee Nor Mack St. and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, second offense, reckless driving, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense and failure to wear a seat belt.
