  • Shelbyvile Police Reports Oct. 26, 2012

    Theft

    Dennis F. Rogers 48, of 800 Main St. No. 1, was arrested Oct. 20 at that address and charged with receiving stolen property under $300, drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place and third-degree criminal trespassing.

    Charles G. White, 38, of 1616 Lakeside Drive was arrested Oct. 24 at 1605 Midland Trail and charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) and alcohol intoxication in a public place, third offense.

  • Cropper meth lab leads to 2 arrests

    Two Pleasureville men have been arrested in Cropper and charged with manufacturing methamphetamines in a lab one of them had created the pervious night.

    Ray B. Shuck and Leonard R. Holcomb, both 32, were arrested Friday morning and charged with manufacturing methamphetamines at 62 Pleasureville Road in Cropper.

    They were also charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    The following cases were heard by Judge Donna Dutton:

    Joann Bailey, no/expired registration plates, first-offense failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance and failure to register transfer of motor vehicle – guilty – $713 fine and costs.

    Armando Barios-Lopez, no/expired registration plates and no operator's/moped license – guilty – 30-day sentence conditionally discharged for 2 years and $413 fine and costs.

  • Girl who escaped from custody in Shelby found in Lexington

    A 16-year-old girl who jumped from a moving vehicle in Shelby County has been found in Lexingtin, police say.

    Kentucky State Police said that on Oct. 19, Cheyenne Vires escaped from custody as she was being transported to a female juvenile facility in Morehead by officials from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Protection Permanency Agency.

  • Shelby woman arrested for child abuse

    Kentucky State Police Detectives have charged a Shelby County woman with child abuse of her 1-month-old son.

    Hermelinda Ramos-Perez, 29, was arrested Oct. 15 and taken to the Shelby County Detention Center, charged with second-degree assault, after a week-long investigation that began Oct. 8 when the child was brought into Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville with injuries to his head and face, said KSP spokesperson Ron Turley.

  • Shelbyville Police Reports Oct. 19, 2012

    DUI

    Melody L. Abell, 48, of 81 Smithfield Road No. 1 was arrested Oct. 5 at Smithfield Road and Logan Street and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, careless driving and disregarding a traffic control device.

    The following cases were heard by Judge Linda Armstrong:

    Yvonne Benson, second-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security – plead guilty – insurance monitoring for 2 years and $1143 fine and costs, $900 conditionally discharged.

    Carolyn A. Brown, first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security – plead guilty – insurance monitoring for 12 months and $643 fine and costs, $400 conditionally discharged.

  • Shelby County Sheriff Reports Oct. 17, 2012

    DUI

    Melissa D. Marlow, 46, of 226 Hyatt Store Road in Bagdad was arrested Sept. 8 on Washington Street and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs under aggravating circumstances, first offense.

    Greg D. Haynes, 39, of 207 McCormack Road in Waddy was arrested Sept. 6 on Bardstown Trail and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and obstructed view of a windshield.

  • Suspect in Shelbyville shooting arrested

    A suspect wanted in connection with a Sept. 22 shooting in Shelbyville was arrested Sunday during a routine traffic stop, police said.

    Stefan L. Harris, 32, was arrested when police discovered he was a passenger in a car being driven by Jerome Harris, 27.

    Shelbyville Police had pulled over Jerome Harris’ vehicle after they noticed him driving careless on Midland Trail shortly after midnight on Sunday morning.

  • House heavily damaged by blaze Saturday

    No one was injured when a house on Burks Branch Road received major damage from a fire this past weekend, fire officials said.

    Shelby County Fire Department Capt. Eddie Whitworth said that when firefighters arrived at 669 Burks Branch Road on Saturday morning just after 11 a.m., they saw smoke coming from under the eaves of the house.
