  • New deputy joins sheriff's office

    Kyle Thomas Tipton is the newest deputy to join the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

    Shelby County Sheriff Mike Armstrong said that Tipton's hiring brings his patrol force up to 13 strong, a full complement.

    "This is the first time in three years that I have had all of my spots filled," he said. "When I started here in 1990, we only had six deputies."

    Manuel A. Hernandez, 21, of 355 Midland Trail in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 8 at Neutral One at 132 Midland Boulevard and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense, second-degree disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief.

    Felipe D. Rodriguez, 40, of 800 Main St. in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 7 at that address and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense and second-degree disorderly conduct.

    Darnell Jordan Clark, 18, of 316 Midland Blvd. No. 2 in Shelbyville was arrested Oct. 25 at 159 Baker Drive and charged with first-degree robbery.

    Marvin Humberto Cerna, 32, of 203 Lynn Acres in Shelbycille was arrested Oct. 26 at the detention center and charged with sexual abuse in the first degree.

    Cheryl Lynn Hinkle, 40, of 2139 Main St. in Sarasota, Fla., was arrested Oct. 20 at Baker and Mareli and charged with fourth-degree assault with no visibly injury and alcohol intoxication.

    Anthony L. Green of 110 Fairview Dr. in Simpsonville was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), tampering with physical evidence, operation of a motor vehicle by a person whose operator’s license has been suspended or revoked, failure to surrender license, failure to maintain insurance and failure to wear a seat belt.

    Traffic-Related   Ricky Davis, 55, of 1327 LaGrange Road No. 3 in Louisville was arrested Thursday at 7th and College streets and charged with theft of a motor vehicle plate.

    Douglas E. Stivers, 18, of 1401 Indian Ridge in Shelbyville was arrested Tuesday at Kentucky and 10th streets and charged with DUI first offense, no operator's license and no tail lights.

    Jerrad S. Murphy, 21,  of 1320 Nancy Hanes Drive in Lexington was arrested Friday at KY 55 and I-64 and charged with DUI first offense.

    Gary L. Figg, 29, of 6014 Dutschke Road in Louisville was arrested Oct. 20 on Lees Court and charged with DUI first offense and reckless driving.

    Felipe D. Rodriguez, 40, of 800 Main Street in Shelbyville was arrested Saturday at that address and charged with alcohol intoxication.

  • Weathers hearing set for November

    A man accused of a series of burglaries in Shelby and surrounding counties appeared Monday in Shelby Circuit Court and will have a preliminary hearing in November.    

  • More details emerge about attack at skate park.

    Details continue to filter out of the altercation at the Shelbyville skate park on Sept. 13 that left at least one person injured, but charges expected to be filed in the incident remain pending.

    Kelly Cresap, the court designated worker in Shelby County who is in charge of the case, said she cannot divulge any information on those charges because the parties involved are juveniles.

    "I'm not allowed to give any type of comment regarding any type of juvenile case," she said.
