    District court

    The following cases were heard by Judge Donna Dutton:

    Donald G. Casey Jr., theft by unlawful taking/shoplifting - guilty - 30-day sentence conditionally discharged for 2 years and $244 fine and costs.

    Dana N. Ingram, theft by deception - guilty - $183 costs.

    Heber Martinez Ezpinoza, improper passing, first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security and no operator's/moped license - guilty - 30-day sentence conditionally discharged for 2 years and $793 fine and costs.

  • Shelby County Grand Jury Indictments July 17, 2009

    David Armstrong of 5311 Guest Avenue in Louisville,  was indicted for flagrant non-support.

    Juan Carlos Querapa of 460 Old Seven Mile Pike in Shelbyville, was indicted for first-degree assault.

    Fraser Williams of 4332 Garfield St. NW in Washington, DC, was indicted for third-degree assault, resisting arrest, first-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, first offense and reckless driving.

  • Man indicted for attacking state trooper

    A Shelbyville man has been indicted on several charges incurred during a May 8 altercation with a state trooper that sent both of them to the hospital.

    James L. Shuck, 23, was indicted for second-degree burglary, third-degree assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest.

    Shuck was arrested after an altercation with Kentucky State Police Trooper Hunter Martin on Village Lane in which the trooper used his Taser on Shuck twice, then fired his revolver at him.

  • Crime Stoppers need info on burglary

    Information is needed on a burglary that happened on the 100th block of Nora Avenue.

    At about 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 7, someone entered a residence on that street and stole a wallet which contained $250, the victims’ driver’s license and other miscellaneous identification cards.

    The resident had reportedly left the residence open while visiting a neighbor for a few minutes.

    Alcohol Intoxication

    An unidentified  male, age unknown, of the city at large in Shelbyville was arrested Aug. 8 at 8th and Washington streets and charged with alcohol intoxication.

    Duncan Mason, 50, of 1020 High Street in Shelbyville was arrested Aug. 7 at Adair and Main streets and charged with alcohol intoxication and also served with a Shelby County bench warrant.

  • Shelbyville Police Reports Aug. 10, 2009


    Francis E. Silas, 53, of 1515 Flood Road in Shelbyville was arrested Aug. 5 at Main and 8th streets and charged with DUI, careless driving and expired tags.

    Angela G. Snow, 26, of 14 Olympia Drive in Bardstown was arrested Aug. 6 on I-64 West at mile marker 32 and charged with DUI.

  • Police cash in on tip, arrest 2 Dollar 'bandits'

    Police have caught up with two women who allegedly stole quite a bit of merchandise from a local store with the help of a person who read about the theft in The Sentinel-News last week.

    Maj. Danny Goodwin of the Shelbyville Police Department said that after the article and security-camera photo were published Friday, someone called to suggest the identity of the women.

  • KSP calls 'click it' program a success

    Kentucky State Police participated in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) May seat belt campaign called “Click It Or Ticket.” The campaign was sponsored by the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and ran from May 18 through May 31. During the 14-day mobilization, KSP issued 9,921 seat-belt and 288 child-restraint citations to unrestrained motorists.
