    Shelbyville Police Reports

    Elizabeth Lancaster, 29, of Shelbyville, was arrested Jan. 11  on I-64 West and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, endangering the welfare of a minor, expires plates and failure to provide an insurance card.

    Roy Hartell, 41, of Shelbyville, was arrested Jan. 10 on Hearthside Circle and charged with violaton of a Kentucky Emergency Protective Order.

  • Woman dies in fiery crash

    An accident on I-64 West in Shelby County early Saturday morning claimed the life of an Ohio woman who was killed when her car hit a tractor-trailer head-on and burst into flame, Kentucky State Police said.

    Patricia L. Browning, 28, of Ironton, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Shelby County Chief Deputy Coroner Jeff Ivers.

    The accident happened at about 12:30 a.m., when Browning's black, 1988 Chevy struck a guard rail on the westbound side of I-64 at the 26-mile marker, according to KSP.

  • Police ask for help catching burglars

    Shelbyville Police are asking for help in solving two burglaries that happened on

    Monday.

    Sometime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, a home on the 4900th block of

    Bell Avenue was burglarized while the resident was not at home, according to

    police. Items stolen included a handgun and a laptop computer.

    The value of the items is estimated at nearly $1,400.

    The other burglary happened in the same time period on Cyprus Court, and a laptop computer was taken from that residence also.

  • Jeep vandalized on Nora Avenue

    A Jeep was badly vandalized last weekend on Nora Drive and police are asking for the public's help in solving the crime.

    Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning someone busted the windshield on a Jeep Wrangler with a brick and cut all four of its tires and the spare, according to Shelbyville Police. The brick was also used to damage the body of the Jeep, which was parked next door to where the owner lived. Police say the owner of the Jeep does not know who or why someone would have done this to his vehicle.

    Carlos Gonsalez, 30, of Shelbyville was arrested Jan. 4 on Midland Boulevard and charged with DUI, no operator's license, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.

    Masha Hardin, 30, of Shelbyville, was arrested Jan. 6 on Boone Station Road and charged with shoplifting.

    Elida Luciano-Jauregui of Shelbyville, was arrested Jan. 6 on Baker Drive and charged with identity theft and first-degree possession of a forged instrument.

    Shelby County Grand Jury Indictments

    Joseph Napier of Shelbyville was indicted for theft by unlawful taking over $300; complicity, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license; and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle.

    Larry G. Dowell of Louisville was indicted for theft by unlawful taking over $300 and complicity.

    James Arnold Clark of Eminence was indicted for first-degree arson, second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal mischief.

      District court The following cases were heard by Judge Linda Armstrong:

    Raul R. Bernal, reckless driving, no operator's/moped license and first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security -- plead guilty -- 10-day sentence and $793 fine and costs.

    Randall R. Collier Jr., operating on suspended/revoked operator's license -- plead guilty -- sixty-day sentence.

    Shelby County Grand Jury Indictments

    Justin K. Cooper of Shelbyville was indicted for first-degree robbery, theft by unlawful taking (firearm), second-degree fleeing or evading police and public intoxication.

    William Jones Jr. of Madisonville, Ky. was indicted for flagrant nonsupport.

    Charles Mullins of Smithfield, Ky. was indicted on five counts of theft by unlawful taking (firearm).

    John S. Roberts of Frankfort was indicted for third-degree burglary.

  • 11th Teen Court convenes

    The 15 students sitting in the jury box listened to a mock trial in the Shelby circuit court room Monday night. In the future, the cases will be real and the defendants will be one of their peers.

    David K. Lee, 51, of Danville, was arrested Dec. 6 on Midland Boulevard and charged with DUI, first offense.

    Carleen A. Bailey, 32, of Shelbyville, was arrested Dec. 4 on Washington Street and charged with no operator's license, expired registration and driving on a suspended license.

    Daniel Johnson, 53, of Goshen, Ky., was arrested Dec. 5 on I-64 and charged with DUI, second offense.

    Pedro Jacinto Navarrete, 52, of Shelbyville, was arrested Dec. 7 on Juniper Drive and charged with fourth-degree domestic assault.
