  • Crime stoppers ask for info on skid loader theft

    A John Deere 250 skip loader has been stolen from the Todds Point area.

    The theft occurred between March 19 and April 8. The owner cannot narrow the time frame down more than that because he was on vacation.

    The loader was taken from the owner's barn. The loader has several distinguishing features.

    It has between 400 and 500 hours on it and is a 2001 model in very good condition. The headliner is falling out, and the right front tire has a bad gash in it. A hydraulic hose has been wrapped with garden hose.

Bracey of Shelbyville was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), complicity, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, complicity, trafficking in marijuana, complicity, second-degree illegal possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), and second-degree persistent felony offender.

  • Crime stoppers seeks information about graffit, break-in

    Crime Stoppers is asking for help in solving two vandalism-type crimes that happened last week.

    The first occurred between 11 p.m on Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday in the 40 block of Plantation Drive.

    In that incident, someone used white spray paint to write offensive words and symbols on a brick house.

    Steven D. Lear, 29, of Shelbyville was arrested Saturday on Midland Boulevard and charged with first-degree assault and alcohol intoxication.

    Gilda Ravelo, 55, of Louisville was arrested Tuesday at Boone Station Kroger and charged with theft by unlawful talking under $300.

    Edward D. Farmer, 18, of Shelbyville was arrested Tuesday on Main Street and charged with receiving stolen property over $300.

    Randy G. Graham, second-offense aggravator DUI and possession of open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle -- plead guilty -- 60-day sentence, serve 14 days, balance conditionally discharged for two years, operator's license suspended for 12 months and $913 fine and costs.

    Antonio Prado, 31, of Shelbyville was arrested Saturday at Lynn Acres, and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), trafficking in a controlled substance (meth), first-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault.

    William H. Lafolette, 30, of Simpsonville was arrested Friday on Midland Trail and charged with DUI, first offense and careless driving.

    A local man has been indicted for not reporting his new address with the Kentucky State Police's Sex Offender Registry.

  • Manhunt continues for man suspected of murder

    Joe Mena is buried, but there are few leads on the man police believe shot him. A family has laid a loved one to rest, but the search for his killer is far from over.

    As 17-year-old Joel Mena was being buried Tuesday in Shelbyville, police continued a diligent search for the man who they believe fired the shot that killed him.

    Mena died Wednesday night on the sidewalk where he fell after being fatally wounded. Police say he managed to stagger several feet before collapsing.
