  • Grand Jury Indictments Feb. 4, 2011

      Charles Boswell, of unknown address, was indicted for theft of identity, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, third-degree escape, third-degree escape attempt, no license in possession, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating a motor vehicle with excessive window tint, operating a motor vehicle with an obstructed windshield, distributing tobacco products to a minor and being a persistent felony offender.

  • Downtown burglary site of break-in

    Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a break-in at a downtown business.

    On Jan. 31, Sylvia’s Closet was broken into sometime between 4 p.m. Monday afternoon and when the business opened on Tuesday.

    The business, located on the 400 block of Main Street, was entered through the back door.

    Lorenzo V. Hernandez, 32, of 1036 Henry Clay Street in Shelbyville was arrested Jan. 23 on Sanford Lane and charged with DUI, first offense under aggravating circumstances, no operator’s license, rear license not illuminated and failure to maintain insurance, first offense.

    He was also served with two Shelby County bench warrants for DUI, first offense.

  • No one injured in car-bus wreck at Collins HS

    There were no injuries in a traffic accident Tuesday morning  on U.S. 60 in front of Collins High School involving a Shelby County school bus tied up traffic in both directions for about 40 minutes Tuesday morning.

  • Suspect arrested in Kroger robbery

    Some fast work by Shelbyville Police detectives led to the arrest Tuesday of a man wanted in connection with numerous armed robberies of banks and grocery stores across the state, including the Shelbyville Kroger on Sunday night.
    Stewart Ray, 24, along with Gregory Mitchell, 29, his alleged accomplice, both of Louisville, were arrested by U.S. marshals at 12:30 p.m. at their residence on Lunenburg Lane after SPD Detectives Stacy Bruce and Jesse Paulley located them and led surveillance of their home.

    The Shelbyville/Shelby County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in locating the person who defaced a local business with spray paint.
