     Alexis D. Correa, 19, of 422 Harswood, No. 6 of Frankfort was arrested Nov. 13 on Frankfort Road and charged with no operator’s license, speeding, improper registration and failure to maintain insurance.

  • Shelbyville Police reports: Dec. 10, 2009

    Dennis Douthitt 50, of 12 Goodman Avenue in Shelbyville was arrested Dec. 2 at that address and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, third offense in 12 months and resisting arrest. He was also served with a Shelby County warrant for failure to appear in court.

    Nicolas Carrano, 18, of city at large in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 30 at 1018 High St. and charged with second-degree burglary and contempt of court.

  • Candlelight vigil for James Duckett draws large crowd

    The flickering lights of more than 100 candles filled the sanctuary of Rockbridge United Methodist Church with a soft glow Monday night.

    Each candle was held by someone who had come to remember James Duckett, 43, who was murdered a year ago.

    The church was filled with alternating sounds of weeping and laughter as family and friends shared memories of a man who everyone agreed had been a special individual.

  • Sheriff's office makes arrests in burglaries

    Shelby County Sheriff's detectives have arrested four men and charged them in connection with several burglaries.

    Two of the men, Orville Marcum, 38, and Michael Gillis, 26, both of Henry Clay Street, are charged with burglaries on Vigo Road and Cedarmore Road.

    James Cox and Nathan Doss, both 28 and both of Louisville, are charged in connection with a burglary on Aiken Road.

    DUI James R. Pitcock, 28, of 1800 Mink Run Road in Frankfort was arrested Nov. 25 at Mount Eden and Osprey Cove and charged with DUI, first offense, failure to notify owner of unattended vehicle of damage to the vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance and failure to report a traffic accident.

    April M. Wright, 40, of 7997 Hooper Station Road in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 28 on Mount Eden Road and charged with DUI, first offense.

  • Wrecked truck leaves quite a mess

    The identity and condition of a truck driver who wrecked his tractor-trailer on Interstate 64 Tuesday morning still has not been revealed by law enforcement.

    Kentucky State Police Spokesman Ron Turley said that Paul Secor, the trooper who worked the accident, still has not gotten that information to him.

    The trucker was transported to the University of Louisville after he ran off the road just west of the Waddy exit. He hit a huge tree, splitting the truck apart and spilling its load of canned food.

  • Man charged with murder

    A Shelbyville man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a Franklin County man on Friday night.

    Melvin Hawkins, 35, of 102 Lynne Acres is accused of stabbing  Ricky Wright, 46, of 2127 Mink Run Road in Franklin County.

    Shelby Police Major. D. Goodwin said the stabbing happened at the apartment building.

    Jody Wills of 667 McCormack Road in Waddy was indicted on 19 counts of theft by unlawful taking over $300.

    Christopher Beach of 8098 Shelbyville Road in Simpsonville was indicted for flagrant nonsupport.

    Adrian Murphy of 25 Summer Court in Taylorsville was indicted for second-degree assault.

    Rashee Wardford of 3921 Cane Run Road in Louisville was indicted for second-degree robbery.

    Da'ron Dugle of 1590 Greenland Park Circle in Shelbyville was indicted for second-degree robbery.

    Charles G. White, 35, of city at large in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 20 at Midland Trail and Old Finchville Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol under aggravating circumstances, third offense, no operator's license and failure to maintain insurance, first offense.

    Cleotilde Morles, 35, of 707 Shelby Hall Drive in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 22 at 450 Kentucky St. and charged with no operator's license and speeding.
