Mark Bruner, charged with the brutal beating of a woman left by the side of the road, was given a new court date Monday for still another status hearing as he nears his jury trial date of March 11.

Shackled and wearing his orange jailhouse-issued jumpsuit, Bruner glowered at onlookers as he entered Shelby County Circuit Court and stood stoically before Judge Charles Hickman as his court appointed attorney, Melanie Lowe-Stratton, and Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Melanie Carroll reviewed the case.

A teen is recovering from a gunshot wound he received New Year’s Eve, police say.

Shelbyville Police Chief Danny Goodwin said that on New Year’s Eve, police were dispatched to 116 Berea St. at 4:42 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible shooting.

“We had a male juvenile who was shot and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, and it is currently under investigation,” he said. “That’s all I can say at this time.”

Jesse Wyatt, no operator's/moped license and disregarding traffic control device, traffic light – guilty – 60-day sentence, serve 10 days, balance conditionally discharged for 2 years and $163 fine and costs.

One lane of westbound Interstate 64 near Simpsonville was closed for nearly 11 hours Thursday after tractor-trailer pulling loaded tandem trailers crashed through a guardrail and nearly upside.

The driver, whose name had not been released, escaped uninjured when his rig left the roadway at Mild Marker 29, in the construction zone at the Bullskin Creek bridge east of Simpsonville, sometime around 4 a.m.
