Shelbyville Police Reports

Sharon E. Blackburn, 32, of Shelbyville, was arrested March 10 at Main and 2nd Street and charged with expired plates, suspended operator's license and a warrant from Jefferson County.

Jessie A. Loving, 19, of Shelbyville, was arrested March 9 on Gray Hill Court and charged with domestic violence with minor injury and violation of a domestic violence order.

Shelby County Grand Jury Indictments

William C. Payne of Shelbyville was indicted for illegal use of drug paraphernalia, violation of a protective order, operating a motor vehicle with an expired license plate, operating a motor vehicle with one headlight inoperable, failure to produce a registration receipt.

James H. Bell of Shelbyville was indicted for third-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree wanton endangerment, distribution of obscene material to minors.

Kentucky Supreme Court Justice John Minton named Circuit Judge Charles Hickman vice chief regional judge for the 6th Supreme Court District earlier this month.

“It was an honor for him to call and name me to the position,” Hickman said.

The vice chief regional judge serves in an administrative capacity for the 6th Supreme Court District, which includes Shelby and its surrounding counties. The district stretches to northern Kentucky and includes a total of 21 counties.

Shelbyville/Shelby County Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a theft that occurred Tuesday morning on Gray Hawk Drive.

According to police, at about 3 a.m. a resident went outside to make sure he had locked his car. The resident noticed someone near the car, and that person ran away when the resident was spotted.

The resident discovered both cars had been broken into, and the window had been forced open on one vehicle.  An XM radio and a GPS navigation system was stolen, valued at $1,000.
