  • Barn, farm machinery destroyed in fire

    The Shelby County Fire Department is still looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a barn and some farm machinery in the Eminence Pike area early Thursday morning.

    Fire Chief Bobby Cowherd said his department received a call from Eddie Mathis shortly before 4:30 a.m. that one of his barns at his property on Mathis Lane was on fire.

    Firefighters were unable to save the structure, which also destroyed two tractors, he said.
