The following cases were heard by Judge Donna Dutton:

Christopher L. Coulter, theft by unlawful taking under $300 - guilty - 150-day sentence, serve 45 days, balance conditionally discharged for 2 years, restitution and $144 costs.

Kentucky State Police report that troopers will be conducting several checkpoints over the Fourth of July weekend, as part of the National Highway Transportation Safety Association's program.

These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seatbelt adherence), sobriety, insurance and registration violations. There will also be special traffic enforcement in high collision areas using radar, laser and saturation patrols.

The following cases were heard by Judge Linda Armstrong:

Jerome Q. Harris, one headlight, failure to wear seat belts, no operator's/moped license, and failure to produce insurance card - plead guilty - 30-day sentence conditionally discharged for 2 years and $688 fine and costs.

Andrew J. Asher, speeding 26 mph over limit and no operator's/moped license - plead guilty - 90-day sentence, serve 5 days, balance conditionally discharged for 2 years and $381 fine and costs.

A woman formerly of Shelby County has been indicted by the Shelby County Grand Jury for burning down her own house in January.

Susan M. Jackey of Henry County is charged with second-degree arson for setting fire to her house at 2709 Pea Ridge in Waddy.

Shelby County Fire Marshall Robert Goodwin said after an extensive investigation, he presented his evidence to the Sheriff's Office and the Commonwealth Attorney's office, who turned the case over to the grand jury, which found sufficient evidence to indict Jackey.
