A Nicholasville man was injured in an accident on I-64 East Wednesday when he fell asleep at the wheel, Shelbyville Police said.

Samuel Wingate, 19, ran off the road and crashed into the guard rail at the 33 mile marker at about 12:30 in the afternoon. No other vehicles were involved and Wingate was alone in his 1009 BMW. He was transported to the University of Louisville by Shelby County EMS with minor facial injuries, police said.

Information is wanted about a break-in that occurred on Sunday, June 7, at about 1 a.m. in the morning.

On that date, someone broke into a business at 1012 Main Street.

A tenant who lives at that address noticed when she came in that the window screen had been removed and that the window and curtains were open. She returned to her and called police. She did not see the intruder and so was not able to give police a description of the suspect(s).

The Kentucky State Police are asking for the public's help in solving a Spencer County burglary.

The break-in happened on Feb. 28, when someone broke into a mobile home at 737 Featherbed Hollow Road by prying open the front door, Trooper Ron Turley said.

Three suspects were involved in the burglary and were captured on video taken by a hunting camera set to detect motion.

The suspects took a PSE hunting bow, a 7-inch Kenwood touch screen TV, an Orion subwoofer speaker and a PlayStation 2 from the residence.

Elizabeth Lafferty thinks Shelby County has a gang problem and that it's time to do something about it.

Lafferty, the new director of the Shelby County Drug/Alcohol Advisory Council, recently made presentations to both Shelby County Fiscal Court and Shelbyville City Council to outline what she says are signs that gangs are active in this area. She is seeking a federal grant to address this issue.
