    Thomas G. Conder, 48, of 535 Birchwood Circle in Shelbyville was arrested Nov. 13 at Highland Manor on bench warrants for a loud muffler, failure to register a motor vehicle, not wearing a seat belt and failure to produce an insurance card, no registration receipt, no registration plates and DUI, second offense.

  • Arrest made in recent rash of metal theft

    A Shelbyville man has been arrested in connection with the crime spree involving metal thefts from vacant houses, police say.

    Jerry R. Ford, 40, of 612 10th St. is lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond charged with third-degree burglary.

  • EARLIER: Police concerned about metal thefts

      Thefts of metal, primarily copper, have become a focus for officers in Shelby County.

    “Over the past couple of weeks, the county has been experiencing an increase in the number of metal thefts, more specifically, copper, because it’s bringing a premium price right now,” said Shelby County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Rice.

  • Man charged in sex abuse of children

    A man facing several charges of rape, sodomy and related offenses, lived for a brief time in Shelby County, where he allegedly raped a child under 12.

    John Claude Martin, 47, of Versailles, is charged in Shelby County with second-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse.

    Martin’s case is currently in the Anderson County court system because of similar charges there.

    The Kentucky Attorney General's office completed its installation of the eWarrant system in the 53rd District - which includes Shelby, Anderson and Spencer counties - Thursday, joining seven other counties currently using that software.
