    A long-time employee of Tracy’s Home Furnishings in Shelbyville charged with stealing thousands of dollars from her employer will be heading back to court Friday.

  • Trial for Spencer County judge executive moved to Shelby

    The DUI trial of former Spencer County Judge-Executive David Jenkins has been moved from Spencer to Shelby County and is set for April 21.

    Jenkins was arrested April 10, 2009, when Kentucky State Police pulled him over on KY. 155 near Elk Creek in Spencer County and charged him with speeding, no proof of insurance and DUI.

    In November, Special Judge Jerry Crosby II ordered the case moved to Shelby County because he didn’t think the case could be argued fairly in Spencer.

  • Shelby man sentenced for failing to file tax returns

    A Shelby County man has been given a 6-month confinement sentence and ordered to pay more than $300,000 in fines and restitution for failure to pay income taxes.

    Ricky Edward Hughes, former president and CEO of U.S. Wireless Online, Inc., was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to 6 months community confinement and 3 years probation.

    Angela B. Groves, no/expired registration plates and first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security - guilty - $663 fine and costs.

    Christopher W. Locke, speeding 20 mph over limit, no operator's/moped license and first-offense failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance - guilty - 30-day sentence, serve eight days, balance conditionally discharged for 2 years and $783 fine and costs.

  • Grand Jury Indictments Feb. 4, 2011

      Charles Boswell, of unknown address, was indicted for theft of identity, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, third-degree escape, third-degree escape attempt, no license in possession, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating a motor vehicle with excessive window tint, operating a motor vehicle with an obstructed windshield, distributing tobacco products to a minor and being a persistent felony offender.

  • Downtown burglary site of break-in

    Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a break-in at a downtown business.

    On Jan. 31, Sylvia’s Closet was broken into sometime between 4 p.m. Monday afternoon and when the business opened on Tuesday.

    The business, located on the 400 block of Main Street, was entered through the back door.
