  • Shelbyville Police Reports Oct. 16, 2009

     

    Traffic-Related   Ricky Davis, 55, of 1327 LaGrange Road No. 3 in Louisville was arrested Thursday at 7th and College streets and charged with theft of a motor vehicle plate.

    Douglas E. Stivers, 18, of 1401 Indian Ridge in Shelbyville was arrested Tuesday at Kentucky and 10th streets and charged with DUI first offense, no operator's license and no tail lights.

  • Shelbyville Police reports Oct. 26, 2009

    Jerrad S. Murphy, 21,  of 1320 Nancy Hanes Drive in Lexington was arrested Friday at KY 55 and I-64 and charged with DUI first offense.

    Gary L. Figg, 29, of 6014 Dutschke Road in Louisville was arrested Oct. 20 on Lees Court and charged with DUI first offense and reckless driving.

      Alcohol Intoxication  

    Felipe D. Rodriguez, 40, of 800 Main Street in Shelbyville was arrested Saturday at that address and charged with alcohol intoxication.

  • Weathers hearing set for November

    A man accused of a series of burglaries in Shelby and surrounding counties appeared Monday in Shelby Circuit Court and will have a preliminary hearing in November.

  • More details emerge about attack at skate park.

    Details continue to filter out of the altercation at the Shelbyville skate park on Sept. 13 that left at least one person injured, but charges expected to be filed in the incident remain pending.

    Kelly Cresap, the court designated worker in Shelby County who is in charge of the case, said she cannot divulge any information on those charges because the parties involved are juveniles.

    "I'm not allowed to give any type of comment regarding any type of juvenile case," she said.

  • EARLIER: Teens beaten at skate park

    A recent fight at the skate park in downtown Shelbyville erupted from a long-running dispute and left one teenager with severe head wounds.

    Barbara Morgan of Shelbyville said her teen-aged son, as well as her nephew, were both beaten by three other teenagers on Sept. 13.

    Morgan said she took her son to the Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, where he underwent some tests. Though not all results are complete, she believes he is okay.

    Information from authorities about the alleged beating and events surrounding it is sketchy.

  • EARLIER: Charges expected in skate park fight

    Charges are expected to be forthcoming in connection with an altercation at the skate park, police say.

    Shelbyville Police Chief Robert Schutte said Friday that assault charges could be made against some individuals in connection with the Sept. 13 incident in which one teen was injured.

    Kentucky State Police announced Tuesday that in order to enhance its ability to provide effective law enforcement services to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the state legislature has authorized the re-employment of retired troopers on a contractual basis.

    Gilbert L. Chapman Jr., 56, of 1105 Park Street in Shelbyville was arrested Oct. 19 on Park Street and charged with first-degree sodomy.

    Cipriano M. Ramos, 29, of 391 Midland Boulevard in Shelbyville was arrested Oct. 19 at Haven Hill and Midland Trail and charged with disregarding a stop sign, no operator’s license and operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.

    Maria Moran, 32, of 1696 Lees Court in Shelbyville was arrested Sunday on Frankfort Road and charged with careless driving, operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license and failure to produce an insurance card.

    Charles Jones, 36, of 8704 Rebecca Scott Way in Louisville, was arrested Sunday on I-64 West at the 40th mile marker and charged with careless driving, no insurance, having an open alcoholic beverage container in the vehicle and DUI.

  • Teen helps kick off 'Distracted Driving Campaign'

    The state kicked off  its "Distracted Driving is Deadly Driving" Campaign on Wednesday with the help of a Louisville teenager.

    Nicole Meredith, 18, spoke at the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety about a serious traffic accident she was in, which was caused when she was texting a friend while driving.
