    DUI

    James A. Gray, 51, of 303 Quachita Trail in Frankfort was arrested June 7 on Frankfort Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense and speeding.

  • Two longtime deputies retire

    Two longtime Shelby County Deputies retired Friday after decades of service.

    Fred Rothenburger has 21 years as a deputy and Sgt. Mike Murray, 25 years.

    More than 100 people turned out at a party in their honor held at the former district courtroom in the old courthouse to bid the two farewell, with an abundance of hugs, handshakes and well wishes.

    The room could not contain all of those who came, with everyone from all police agencies in the county, emergency services, dispatchers, family and friends, spilling out into the hallway.

  • Crime spree leads to lengthy police pursuit

    Shelbyville Police had their hands full trying to catch up with a Louisville man in the predawn hours Thursday who, in the space of just over an hour, went on a bizarre crime spree ending in a freaky police pursuit, police said.

    Tommy D. Manion, 53, is charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, trespassing, tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a forged instrument, in a series of events that began at 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to a burglar alarm at Cox Smokers Outlet on Breighton Circle.

  • New mobile app is free from police

    Kentucky State Police has just unveiled a new a mobile phone app that is intended to be an outreach tool for the public.

    Sgt. Michael Webb said the app will provide a technological platform for citizens to report criminal behavior, access resources and receive real-time emergency notifications.

    DUI

    Kristen A. Newberry, 24, of 2955 Waddy Road was arrested May 22 at 2378 Waddy Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, first offense and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle.

    Taylor J. Hart, 21, of 566 Cemetery Road in Pleasureville was arrested May 31 on Frankfort Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense.

  • Man charged with rape, kidnapping

    A Shelbyville man has been charged with several felony offenses in the alleged sexual assault of a teenaged girl.

    Phillip E. Bynum Sr., 55, was arrested Saturday in connection with an incident that had occurred Tuesday, July 21, when a 16-year-old girl spent the night with his daughter, who was at his residence, according to a Shelbyville Police report.

    Lucinda M. Patterson, 40, of 1434 McMakin-McMilin Road was arrested July 10 at 3500 Mount Eden Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, second offense, no registration plates, failure to maintain insurance, first offense, operating a suspended or revoked operator’s license and no registration plates.
