  • A ‘taste’ of something different

A feast by any other name would taste as sweet, as Shelby County Chamber of Commerce officials will set out to prove this year.

The chamber’s main fund-raiser, now in its 24th year, will have a new name – Tastes and Tunes – when it rolls around in September.

And not only the name will be new, but many other aspects of the event will be changed – for the better, Chamber Executive Directory Shelley Goodwin said.

  • Lots more taste with the tunes

With some changes in store, the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is looking to take Tastes & Tunes to a new height on Monday.

Formerly called the Taste of Shelby, this annual gala has been revamped by the Chamber, making it more of a family-friendly event and lowering ticket prices.

Tickets had been as much as $35 in years past, but this year all tickets are $20.

"We wanted to make it more affordable, and we wanted to get more of the community involved," Chamber Executive Director Shelley Goodwin said.
