With the Shelbyville Horse Show going on and the Kentucky State Fair approaching, there's a lot of horses in Shelby County, which boasts more than 200 horse farms.

But representatives from some of those farms say they don't see much of an increase in boarding around the shows. Instead, most of the business they see is from training or breeding and the boarding that goes with it.

Creative Kids Preschool & Child Care has found a new home.

The daycare has moved to 66 Brunerstown Road, near the Great Escape movie theater, into a facility that previously housed the Academy of Learning.  

Creative Kids co-owner Kim Seewer said management already has invested $25,000 to renovate the building and make it their own.  

Shoppers for name-brand clothes soon will have another option if they want to buy locally. Peebles is coming.

Peebles will open a department store in Shelbyville on Aug. 20, said Barry Lester, new store development administrator for the company.

Peebles will occupy the space formerly leased by Goody's in Village Plaza on Midland Trail.

Peebles bills itself as a specialist “in bringing nationally-known, brand-name apparel, accessories, footwear and cosmetics to small towns and communities across the U. S.”

Earl Adkins knows a trend when he sees one, and he's poised to take advantage of a surge in interest in gun-ownership and shooting.
