  • Cornerstone students vie in Math by Mail competition

    Select Cornerstone Christian Academy students in third through eighth grades competed in a math competition with other area ACSI school students.

    "I am tremendously pleased with the results of ACSI Math by Mail," said Linda McNutt, CCA teacher and ACSI Math by Mail coordinator. "Our students worked very conscientiously on this test to be able to score so high."

    There were seven schools and 159 students in grades 3-8 that participated in this event at Kentucky Christian Academy.

  • DAR essay winners

    Two Shelby County students won the Isaac Shelby Chapter's Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship essay contest entitled "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It." The winners were Katelyn Renee McNew, a student at Shelby County High School, and Lindsay Jo Trip, a student at Collins High School. Both will receive  $100 savings bond at awards night at the respective high schools. Katelyn and Lindsay were invited to the annual DAR Valentine Tea/meeting, where they read their essays to the chapter's members.

    The Shelby County High School choir was congratulated for their victory over the Collins High singers during April's county choir challenge. Choirs participating in the Kentucky Music Educators' Association Choir Festival in March at Oldham County were Collins' eighth-grade choir, distinguished rating; Titan Singers, distinguished rating, advancing to state; and Shelby Singers, distinguished plus rating, advancing to state.

    The principal and students decorated the walkway with chalk on Sunday night for the teachers at Painted Stone in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. The theme was "a walk of fame."
