    Jones graduates from KSU
    Tracy B. Jones graduated cum laude from Kentucky State University with a bachelor of arts in business administration, with a specialization in Accounting.  Jones is a 2008 graduate of Shelby County High School, the daughter of Cecil and Jody Jones and the granddaughter of Rosa Jones all of Simpsonville.

    Shelby County High School’s academic team won the district competition and will compete in the regional competition. Members are (from left) Claire Kelley, Katie Brown, Jeremy McNutt, Matthew Perry, Tyler Chambers, Steven Loudermilk, Logan Dewitt, Ethan Russell, Patrick Casper, Haley White and Alex Franklin, who wore his good luck hat.

    The Kohl’s Department Stores Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program will award more than $420,000 in scholarships and prizes, ranging from $50 Kohl’s gift cards to $10,000 scholarships, to more than 2,200 young volunteers who have made a positive impact on their communities. Nominations for kids ages 6 to 18 will be accepted through March 15 at kohlskids.com.

  • EMS students 2nd in competition

    A team of middle school “mathletes” from Shelby East Middle School took second place at the KSPE Capital Chapter MathCounts competition last weekend.

    The top individual was Wesley Wei from Boyle County Middle School. Nick Fluty, also from Boyle County Middle School and Emma Saarinen from Shelby East Middle School placed second and third, respectively.

  • EMS, Cornerstone students in math competition

    “Mathletes” from East Middle School and Cornerstone Christian Academy will compete in the KSPE Capital Chapter contest of the national MATHCOUNTS program Saturday in Frankfort.

    A total of 11 schools and 73 students will compete. Also participating are Anderson Middle School, Bate Middle School, Boyle County Middle School, Capital Day School, Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg, Elkhorn Middle School, Frankfort Christian Academy, Good Shepherd School and Scott County Middle School.
