  • Collins’ FCCLA regional star event

    The Collins High School Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America competed in the Region 6 Star events competition. Members had to create a project that showcased the chapter and everything that the chapter has completed this year. Both junior and senior groups won first place and will advance to the state competition at the Galt House in Louisville on March 19-21. Receiving honors were (from left) Savannah Stroupe, Noelle Thompson, Kayle Stroupe, Justynne Miller and Billy Gene Tennill.

  • Collins’ FCCLA food drive

    The Collins High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America held a food drive during January and raised more than 80 canned goods that will be donated to help support those community members in need this winter.   • Teens for Jeans

    The Collins High School chapter of FCCLA participated in Teens for Jeans, a nationwide jeans collection sponsored by Aeropostale. For FCCLA week, the chapter partnered with this organization to help donate jeans to homeless teens all over the United States. The FCCLA along with the faculty, staff and students at CHS raised more than 300 pairs of jeans.     Biggins honored at Birmingham-Southern
    Ashley Biggins of Simpsonville is among 231 students named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Birmingham-Southern. To earn that honor, students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
