The Kentucky Society of CPAs is accepting through Jan. 31 applications for its educational foundation scholarships .

The following students enrolled at the Shelby County Area Technology Center received the Student of the Month for November, recognizing a student who is exemplary in the academic areas of the classroom. They were Melanie Brown, office technology; Elaina Barnett, office technology; Dalton Jenkins, machine tool; Kurtis Pflaum,  industrial maintenance; Ben Shuck,  information technology.

Miranda Rein, a sixth-grader at West Middle School, handles the document reader to write down class comments about cells and organisms that were then projected onto the white board via technology. Science teacher Maria Russ had students presenting their posters, which were specific topics they researched on cells, tissues, organs, organisms and organ systems.
