  • Teens for Jeans

    The Collins High School chapter of FCCLA participated in Teens for Jeans, a nationwide jeans collection sponsored by Aeropostale. For FCCLA week, the chapter partnered with this organization to help donate jeans to homeless teens all over the United States. The FCCLA along with the faculty, staff and students at CHS raised more than 300 pairs of jeans. Members of the chapter are (from left) Ashley Quinn, Luis Palomeque, Bushy Wells, Jasmine Valentine and Jordan Hurley.

    Biggins honored at Birmingham-Southern
    Ashley Biggins of Simpsonville is among 231 students named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Birmingham-Southern. To earn that honor, students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

  • Georgetown dean’s list honorees

    Seven students from Shelby County made the dean's list for fall 2013 at Georgetown College. The dean's list honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 grade-point average. Students from Shelbyville were Keira Lynn Lopez, Taylor M.   • Christmas at Cornerstone

    Cornerstone Christian Academy hosted its annual Christmas dinner and auction and raised more than $13,000 in profit. Each year area businesses are invited to decorate a wreath for the event. The wreaths are judged in five categories, and winners receive “Jingle Bell Awards.” Receiving awards were Country Christmas, Flowers by Sharon; Let it Snow, Torrey Smith Realty; True Christmas Message, Brenda Timperman; Most Whimsical, Loxx Salon; and “Students’ Choice,” Pennyman.
