The Collins High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America held a food drive during January and raised more than 80 canned goods that will be donated to help support those community members in need this winter. The Collins High School chapter of FCCLA participated in Teens for Jeans, a nationwide jeans collection sponsored by Aeropostale. For FCCLA week, the chapter partnered with this organization to help donate jeans to homeless teens all over the United States. The FCCLA along with the faculty, staff and students at CHS raised more than 300 pairs of jeans. Biggins honored at Birmingham-Southern Ashley Biggins of Simpsonville is among 231 students named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Birmingham-Southern. To earn that honor, students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Seven students from Shelby County made the dean's list for fall 2013 at Georgetown College. The dean's list honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 grade-point average. Students from Shelbyville were Keira Lynn Lopez, Taylor M.
