• Donuts with Dad at Cornerstone

    Cornerstone Christian Academy celebrated Donuts with Dad on Sept. 19. Students invited dads to join them at school for donuts and coffee before classes.

  • Chapter 3: The origin of Jack Tales

    “You all sit a spell and I’ll get Jack,” Mr. Blackford said. When he came back, Mom, Dad, Chloe and I all looked at one another in amazement!

    We expected Jack to walk out with Mr. B. (as he told us to call him). Instead, Mr. B. carried out a large cardboard box.

    “I get it! It’s Jack-in-the-Box!” I exclaimed, thrilled I got the joke. Everyone was chuckling when Mr. Blackford pulled out his pocketknife and carefully opened the box.

    “Dogwood, what’s going on?” Mom asked as I tugged the robber’s shoes, keeping him secure until the cops arrived. “We heard the harmonica, and it sounded so much, uh, different, than usual and we thought we would check it out. Why are you chewing on this gentleman’s shoes?”

    Knowing I couldn’t take the chance of letting go of the criminal to answer Mom, I looked at Chloe to explain.

  • College prep seminar at Cornerstone

    Cornerstone Christian Academy’s guidance counselor hosted the annual College Prep Seminar for juniors and seniors, and their parents. Several colleges and a KHEAA representative came to campus to speak to students about preparing and paying for college.

  • Local Scout receives award

    Abbie Brown, a member of American Heritage Girls Troop KY2917, was awarded the Silver Presidential Service Award for completing 95 hours of service. The mission of American Heritage Girls is to build women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.   • KFB, conservation districts sponsor essay, art contest

    As another new school year gets underway, the search for Kentucky’s finest young writers and artists also begins.

    Students in grades 1-12 are encouraged to create and submit short essays and artistic entries for the annual Conservation Writing and Art Contests, sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts.

    This year’s competition – featuring the 70th annual Writing Contest for grades 6-12 and the 40th annual Jim Claypool Conservation Art Contest for grades 1-5 – focuses on soil conservation.
