  • Smith graduate from UK

    Tanner Jacob Smithgraduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in architecture. Smith remained on the Dean’s List with a GPA of 3.974, and he plans to pursue a masters in architecture at UK this fall. He is the son of Bryan and Mary Hayes Smith of Simpsonville, and grandson of Jake and Carol Lou Smith, Ann C. Hayes and Mickey Hayes.

  • 6 to compete for Miss Shelby County Fair teen pageant

    Shelby County girls will compete Tuesday in the Miss Shelby County Fair Teen pageant. The winner will compete in the Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair pageant. The contestants are judged on beauty, poise and personality.

  • Five to compete for Miss Shelby County Fair

    Five Shelby County girls will compete Tuesday in the Miss Shelby County Fair pageant.

    A contestant must have reached her 16th birthday by Oct. 31 and shall not have reached her 22nd birthday by Oct. 31 of the year when the contest is held. Contestants will be judged from the standpoint of beauty, poise and personality.

  • 12 to compete for Miss Shelby County Fair pre-teen pageant

    The Miss Shelby County Pre-Teen contest is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.

    A contestant must be 8 years old by June 30 and not have reached her 13th birthday by Oct. 31. Five finalists will be chosen, from which a winner and first runner-up will be chosen from the standpoint of beauty, poise and personality.

  • Boone among 61 graduates at Gatton

    Abigail Booneof Shelby County was among the 61 students representing 37 counties from across Kentucky recognized during The Gatton Academy’s eighth graduation ceremony in Van Meter Hall.

    Boone named to dean’s list at Belmont

    Delaney Boone of Shelbyville, qualified for the spring 2105 dean's list at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

    Approximately 30 percent of Belmont's 7,300 students qualified for the list.

  • ATC students 4th in Ford state competition

    Two students from Shelby County Area Technology Center competed in the state Ford AAA Student Auto Skills Competition. 

    Wilson Botkins, a Shelby County High School senior, and Bryson Stoops, a Collins High School senior, combined to compete May 12-13 at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville.

  • Cornerstone participates in research study

    Cornerstone Christian Academy was selected by the College Board to participate in a special research study conducted to pilot the redesigned SAT suite of assessments, which includes the PSAT, PSAT/NMSQT and SAT. The junior class recently took place in this study which will allow The College Board to assess aspects of the redesigned tests such as question formats, timing of test sections and technicality.
