  • Chapter 6: Making dinner for upset bellies

    Chloe loved my brilliant idea of browsing through Mr. B.’s books and newspapers to find recipes that would remind him of home. Chloe had chosen the recipes. We would begin preparing them around 5 p.m. so they’d be ready for our 6 p.m. dinner. Mom said Chloe and I could do it by ourselves as long as we cleaned up the mess.

    “Mr. B., what a surprise,” we exclaimed, when Mr. B. arrived seven hours before dinner!

  • Chapter 5: Shaping Kentucky’s different regions

    “Why can’t we enter the contest?” my sister asked in her sweet voice.

    “Because neither of us can drive,” I explained.

    “Why do you need to drive, Woody?” Mom asked. “If it’s too far for you to walk, your Dad or I will drive.”

    “But how can we win the cruisin’ part of the contest if we can’t drive?” I asked.

    “There isn’t a cruisin’ category, son,” Dad answered.

  • Shelby County FFA

    The Shelby County and Collins high schools FFA chapters followed the Shelby leaders group on Ag day. 

  • Clifford recognized at convention

    Amateur photographers from across the region participated in the annual Farm Foto Assignment photography contest held at the National FFA Convention in Louisville.  Megan Clifford, a student in the Henry County FFA chapter, was selected as the grand-prize winner of the second annual contest, presented by McDonald’s®Restaurants of Kentuckiana.  Local McDonald’s owner/operators awarded $1,000 to the Henry County FFA chapter for Clifford’s winning photograph.

    Schneider accepted to Illinois College
