  • On Campus: Reilly Boone

    Western Kentucky University has selected 26 students, including Reilly Boone of Shelbyville, as recipients of the 2015-16 Cherry Presidential Scholarship, the school’s most prestigious academic award. The scholarship is valued at more than $16,800 annually and worth more than $67,000 during a four-year period. The students were among 68 applicants who visited WKU on Feb. 6. The recipients had an average GPA of 3.97 and an average ACT score of 32.2. There are 17 Kentucky Governor’s Scholars and two National Merit Semifinalists in the group of recipients.

  • On campus: Jacqueline Hunter

    Jacqueline Noel Hunterwas honored with membership into the international dean's list society for exemplary academic performance at the University of Kentucky. She is majoring in marketing/business. Hunter isa junior at University of Kentucky and a transfer from Thomas Moore College where she played volleyball for the college. She is daughter of John and Traci Hunter.

    Inducted into Kappa Delta Pi
    Ashley Biggins
    was inducted into Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Individuals are invited to membership in this largest of education honor societies on the basis of high academic achievement, worthy ideals and evidence of leadership attributes. She is the daughter of John and Renee Biggins.

  • Emma McCluskey wins Corpus Christi Geography bee

    Emma McCluskey, a seventh-grade student at Corpus Christi Academy, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Jan. 28, and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship.  The school-level bee was the first round in the 25th annual National Geographic Bee, which is sponsored by Google.

    The school winner will take a written test with up to 100 of the top scorers in each state becoming eligible to compete in a state bee, March 27.
