• Shelby student spends week in Washington

    A Shelby County youth student is one of two Kentucky high school students that just returned from spending a week at the nation’s capital.

    Cyrus “Cy” Dutton IV of Shelbyville and Samuel Miller of Prospect were chosen from across the state to be part of the group of 104 student delegates who attended the program’s 53rdannual Washington Week March 7-14.

    The U.S. Senate Youth Program comes with a $5,000 scholarship from the Hearst Foundation.

    of Taylorsville made the honor roll list for the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year at Brevard College, Brevard, N.C. Students who qualify for the Honor Roll must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and have a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49.

    Shelby County Public Schools Superintendent James Neihof posed with Novalee Moore (left) and KeyShawn Copeland, who spoke at a school board meeting about how technology is impacting their learning. Both discussed the advances of technology at Southside Elementary and how their learning experience is improving because of the engaging things they are getting to do with their learning.

    Varghese named to Clemson dean’s list
    Mariah Sosanna Varghese
    of Simpsonville, whose major is Biological Sciences, has been named to the dean's list at Clemson University for the fall 2014 semester.

    To be named to the dean's list, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.
