  • Ryan and Jessie Smith of Shelbyville announce the birth of their third child, a daughter, on July 15, 2015 at Baptist Health of Louisville. She has been named Jenna Elizabeth Smith.

    Grandparents are Rob and Janevera Rothenburger, and Jim and Teresa Smith, all of Shelbyville.

  • After a gathering to “break a leg,” calls of “check your costumes, check your props!” echo through the Shelby County Community Theatre as excitement washes over the cast and crew of Footloose like a tangible force.

    “Adding shows gives you that extra little adrenaline rush,” said director Cyndi Skellie, with a breathless laugh as she glanced around as people dashed off in all directions to get into costume and do their hair and makeup.

  • Glen and Carolyn L. Seay Miller of Shelbyville have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on Sept. 4, 1965 at St. James United Church of Christ.

    They are the parents of Alex Miller (Michelle), Amanda Teague (Bob) and Andrew Miller. Their grandchildren are Kayla, Cordelia, Amy, Alyssa, Amber, Casey, Joseph, Ashlee; and great grandchildren, Ella, Molly and Johnny.

    They will celebrate from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Simpsonville Christian Church with family and friends.

  • Bessie Chowning of Shelbyville celebrated her 91st birthday with a picnic in her honor on her farm in Owen County in July. Attending were approximately 100 people including her brother Nelson and Ti Jones and their family; and Bessie’s children, Wanda and Roy Bailey, Nancy and Phil Metts, Mike and Erica Chowning; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

  • Monique Beach and Vincent Peete announce their engagement.

    She is an art therapist and graduate of the University of Louisville, and is the daughter of Eric Beach and the late Leslie Beach of Shelbyville.

    He is an information technology coordinator, and the son of Eugene and Linda Peete of Simpsonville.

    The couple has planned their wedding for May 2016 in Louisville.

  • Bobby and Rita Vest of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa Ann Vest of Shelbyville, to John Joseph Kayrouz, of Louisville. He is the son of the late Judith Christine Holthouser and Dennis Lamar Clayton.

    She is a graduate of Shelby County High School and a CSR/teller for Commonwealth Bank & Trust in Shelby County. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Diane Long from Shelbyville and Reva Vest from Bagdad.

    He is a graduate of Jeffersontown High School and works production for Magna Seating in Shepherdsville.
