  • Diane Malone took this picture in 2003 on the day she wrote the Father's Day poem. Malone said something came over her when she was looking at the shoes. The shoes have had hen and chickens growing in them for 27-years. She wrote this for her dad, J.B. Yates, who died July 28, 1989. Her mother, Myrtle Yates, lives in Shelbyville.

  • Ted Igleheart, resident at Crescent Place Assisted Living, was honored with the lifetime achievement award from the Kentucky Assisted Living Facilities Association. On hand for the award were (from left) Dennis McNatt, Ted and Libby Igleheart, Sarah and Joe Jurgensen.

  • Bucky and Nancy Goin Dalton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family on May 28.

    They were married by the Rev. John Chenault at First Christian Church on Ann St. in Frankfort on May 28, 1966.

    They have two children, Emily (Jeff) of Somerset; David (Amanda) of Shelbyville. They have seven grandchildren, Philip, Samuel, John, Kate of Somerset, and Emma, Matt, and Maya of Shelbyville.

  • Robert and Thelma Woods have been married for 50 years. The couple was married June 11, 1966 in Frankfort by the Rev. Billy Craddock at Bellepoint Baptist Church.

    He retired from the Axton Candy and Tobacco Co. and now works part-time for the county government.  She worked as a beautician and instructional assistant at Henry Clay Elementary and Heritage Elementary before retiring. They are active members of Waddy Baptist Church and avid Shelby County Rocket and UK Wildcat fans.

  • Breanna Gipson was crowned Miss Bagdad Days on May 14. She is the 16-year-old daughter of Billy and Regina Rice of Waddy.

    Fish Fry at Wingate Lodge
    The Wingate Lodge will have a fish fry from 5 to 8 p.m. today. The menu includes fish and fries, baked beans, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children.
