  • Joshua and Christy Miner of Louisville announce the birth of their first child, a son, born on April 5, 2011 at Baptist East Hospital. He has been named Caleb Joshua Miner. He was born at 11:01 a.m., weighing 6 pounds 1 ounce and was 18 inches long.

    Grandparents are Marty and Rachael Page of Finchville, Dale and Mary Lou Miner of Freeport, III. Great-Grandparents are Jim Conti, Harold and Merilynn Page, Dolores Page and Pauline Butler all of Louisville, and the late Mary Catherine Conti.

    The Shelbyville Municipal Water Board meeting is 6:30 p.m. every third Monday, at the office, 1059 Washington St. in Shelbyville. Phone 633-2840 to be on the agenda.
    Shelby County Fiscal Court  meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Stratton Center, 215 Washington St. Tuesday.
    Triple S. Planning and Zoning meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stratton Center. This will be a public hearing for the 7th Street Corridor project.

  • Grove Hill tour

    set for tonight

    Friends of Grove Hill will kickoff a season of spring and summer events tonight with a special new tour of the cemetery.

    The tour, which will begin at 6:30 at the chapel, will be called the South Walk Tour, and it will cover areas in the cemetery not included in the tour last fall.

    Grove Hill Friend Mike Harrod again will be the guide.

    Refreshments furnished by Bell House and other materials will be available for a $15 donation.

  • Shelbyville’s downtown weekend concert series gets under way again tonight when Shades of Grass will be entertaining starting at 6 o’clock.

    The two-night concerts – The Cracker Boys play Saturday at 7 – continue monthly through Sept. 17 and incorporate the Shelbyville Horse Show Jubilee along the way.
