  • Anna Lee Fleming Harris, born Dec. 18, 1925 in Shelbyville, the second of eight siblings, celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. 

    She has five surviving siblings, Frances Marshall (91), Willie C. Fleming (88), Lina Wigginton (86), Ollie Hackett (84) and Bessie Tinsley (82), and two deceased siblings, James A. Boone and Margaret Francis.

    We are blessed and thankful our mother has lived 90 years.

  • Cornerstone Christian Academy had their annual Christmas dinner and auction. This year’s “Woodland Winter” themed event brought in more than 200 guests for a dinner, live and silent auctions, wreath sale, dancing, ugly sweater contest, and “Levi” the camel who stole the show during the live nativity.

    CandleLight Service will begin at 7 p.m. today at Cropper Baptist Church.
    Elmburg holiday services
    On Christmas Eve, a candlelight service will begin at 11 p.m. at Elmburg Baptist Church.  Located at 11307 Elmburg Road.
    Waddy Baptist presents holiday music
    Waddy Baptist Church will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 10 p.m. on Thursday. The public is invited.

    Homemakers book club
    The Homemakers book club, meets at noon today at the Shelby County Extension office, 1117 Frankfort Road. Participants can bring their lunches and favorite books they have read to tell other club members about them and then take home a new book to read.     The Christmas Cantata, Christ Was Born For This, will be presented during the morning worship service on Sunday. Christmas Cantata and Candlelight Service, caroling and fellowship will be on Sunday. Located at 2023 Fox Run Road.

  • Our good friends in France, Jean-Michel and Guillemette Dunoyer de Segonzac, drove us to General de Charette’s Chateau de la Basse Motte in Chateuneuf, six miles west of St Malo, which Susanne had inherited from her mother, the Marquise de Charette, in 1964.

  • The Shelby County High School Marine Corp JROTC collected toys for Stuff the Truck (Toys for Tots) at Walmart in Shelbyville on December 5. 1,128 toys were collected to benefit the children of Shelby County. Pictured above is cadets with the Shelbyville Moose Riders as the placed their donation. Thanks to Shelby County for a very successful year.

  • Jessica and Joseph Martin were married Nov. 21, 2015 at Clifton Baptist Church.

    Parents of the bride are Jerry and Dianne Cheatham of Bagdad. The groom is the son of Steve and Lucinda Martin of McPherson, Kansas.

    Rev. Jim Stitzingerofficiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

    Maid of honor was Amanda Akins of Frankfort.

    Best man was Jeremy Warren of California.

    The ushers were David Dykes of Louisville and James Cheatham of Bagdad.

    A reception was held at the church.
