  • Sam and Leslie Lafferty of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on Nov. 25, 2014 at Baptist Health East. His name is William Davis Lafferty.

    Grandparents are Eddie and Brenda Mathis, Meme Lafferty, and Davis Lafferty, all of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Simon and Margaret Humphrey of Shelbyville.

  • Joe and Katie Fussenegger of Simpsonville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on Sept. 15, 2014, at Baptist East Louisville. He has been named Dominic Joseph Fussenegger.

    Grandparents are Dale and Sharon Kramer of Simpsonville, Oscar and Patty Fussenegger of Union. Great-grandparents are Charles and Diana Kramer of Simpsonville, John and Teresa Franklin of Louisville and Anne Atkins of Hopkinsville.

  • Carl and Cynthia Hulker of Graefenburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Kacey Hulker of Graefenburg, to Brandon Killen of Fort Thomas. He is the son of David and Jacqueline Killen of Graefenburg.

    Both will be 2015 graduates of EKU, she with a Bachelor of Science in communication disorders and he with a Bachelor of Science in paramedic/science.

    The wedding will take place at 5:30 p.m. on June 27, 2015 in Frankfort.

  • Cub Scout Pack 270, sponsored by First Christian Church, participated in the national Scouting for Food drive. The 12 Cub Scouts and adults collected 450 food items and dropped them off at Shelby County’s Serenity Center.

  • Jessica Pennington and Nathan Bohannon were married on July 19, 2014 at Beechmont Baptist in Louisville.

    Parents of the bride are Ronald and Diana Pennington of Bardstown. The groom is the son of Debbie Humphrey of Shelbyville and David Bohannon of Finchville.

    J. Derek Yelton of Beechmont Baptist Church officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Ronald Pennington.

    Matron of honor was Heather Smith of Bardstown, sister.

  • Tammy Bounds and Conrad Everly, both of Shelbyville, were married at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 at Grove Hill Cemetery Chapel with a candlelight ceremony.

    Dana Jeffries of Goshen was maid of honor and Embray Herrick of Shelbyville was best man.

    Reception followed at Horseshoe Casino Indiana.

    The newlyweds honeymooned two nights in Los Angeles, followed by eight nights pm of Bora Bora in the French Polynesian.

    The couple resides in Shelbyville.

  • Christmas in the Courtyard
    The Court Appointed Special Advocates for children (CASA) fundraiser “Christmas in the Courtyard” will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Wakefield-Scearce Gallery. There will be excellent food, spirits and music by the Bob Giltner Group. This is a fundraiser to support volunteers who advocate in court for children who have been abused or neglected. Tickets are $50 per person and can be ordered at www.casariverregion.org or by calling 502-595-4911.

  • The Relay for Life Kickoff to 2015 included a chili cook-off and 2014 Relay wrap up. There were nine pots of chili from the Relay teams, bringing in $1,222.90 for the American Cancer Society event. Judging the event were Jay Eddington, Bagdad Fire Department; Kathy Belcher, DVM, veterinarian from East Shelby Animal Clinic; Rob Rothenburger, county judge executive; Tracy Eddington, junior fire department, Bagdad; and Candi Broughton. Relay committee member Heide Gregg won the judge’s pick.

     

  • Ray and Marti McIntosh were married on Nov. 28, 1964 in Jackson County, Tenn.

    He retired from Walmart Logistics and she retired from state government.

    They have three children, Teri, Robert and Jamie; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
