    Al-Anon convention begins Friday in Lexington

    The 51st Annual Kentucky Al-Anon Convention will be Friday through Sunday at the Clarion Hotel, 1950 Newtown Pike, Lexington, KY. The conference will include Al-Anon, AA and Alateen speakers from Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas as well as several workshops. Registration fee for the entire weekend is $35.     MOPS meeting

    MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers meets at 6-7:30 p.m. today at Shelbyville First Baptist Church Shelbyville in room 300. Free childcare is provided for the moms attending the meetings. The children are divided into age-appropriate classes. Nursing infants may remain with moms. A family meal is offered in the church fellowship hall from 5 to 5:45 p.m. for $6 per adult and $1 per child. Mothers of Preschoolers is a program designed to nurture mothers with children from infancy through kindergarten.

    The Shelby County Public Library has launched a new mobile app, which is available for free on both apple and Andriod platforms. From any smartphone, users can connect to the library and tap into the resources available – search the catalog, check your account, contact a librarian, find events, place a hold or renew a book, download an e-book and more. Starting this week, show the librarians the downloaded app on your device and users will receive a free stylus and be entered to win a $25 gift card from Amazon.
