• Best of Cruise trophy to Imel

    The Shelby County Car Club had a cruise-in at O’Brien Ford. Mark Grin of O’Brien Ford presented the Best of Cruise trophy to Phil Imel for his 1938 Chevrolet Pick-up. The next cruise will be Downtown Shelbyville on June 25.

  • Birth: Ritchey son

    Mark and Beverly Ritcheyof Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on Feb. 27, 2015, at Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital. He has been named Caleb Samuel Ritchey and has a 17-year-old sister, Cassie. He weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

    Grandparent is Rebecca Ritchey of Lexington.

  • 69th anniversary: Gilbert and Louise Morris

    Gilbert and Louise Morris have been married for 69 years. The couple was married on July 6, 1946 by the Rev. O.S. Gardner in the parsonage of the Olive Branch Methodist Church, which was then located on Main Street in Shelbyville.

    They are still living on the farm they purchased in 1956 where they once had a dairy, grew tobacco, corn and hay.

    He raised beef cattle after ending his dairy operation and kept cattle until his 90th year. He worked at the Shelby County Road Department, starting after he turned 65. He retired after his 80th birthday.

  • 55th anniversary: Carol and C.T. Shouse

    Carol and C.T. Shouse of Waddy have been married for 55 years. The couple was married on July 16, 1960, at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Rufus Burk in Waddy.

    She is a homemaker and the former Carol Stewart of Hatton.

    He is a retired foreman of the Department of Transportation District 5 and heavy equipment operator.

    They are members of the New Life Baptist Church of Waddy and parents of David Shouse of Waddy, Wesley Shouse of Waddy and Laurie Raisor (Glen) of Henry County. They have nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

    The 2015 Shelby County Fair Little Mister’s name on Page B3 of the June 24 issue of The Sentinel-News was listed incorrectly. The Little Mister winner was Kevin Stivers.

  • Van Stockum wedding

    Brittany Forras and Thomas Van Stockum of New York were married June 6, 2015, at Allen Dale Farm in Shelby County.

    Parents of the bride are Vincent Forass and Dina Stianese of New York. The groom is the son of Reggie Van Stockum of Shelbyville and Kerry Van Stockum of and Aptos, Calif.

    Zach Willenbrinkofficiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Vincent Forras and Dina Stianese.

    Maid of honor was Danielle Forras, sister of bride. The bridesmaid was Nelli Forras, sister-in-law to the bride.

  • Engagement: Morris-Van Hooser

    Anna Lee and William D. Morris of Simpsonville announce the engagement of their daughter, Leigh Morris, to Nick Van Hooser. He is the son of Gary and Debbie Van Hooser of Bowling Green.

    She is a graduate of University of Louisville, and is paralegal at the Kentucky Attorney General's Office in Frankfort.

    He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, is currently obtaining his MBA at the University of Louisville and works full time at JB Hunt Transportation in Louisville.

    A September wedding is planned.

  • 70th anniversary: Margaret E. and Simon Humphrey Jr.

    Margaret E. and Simon Humphrey Jr. of Shelbyville have been married for 70 years. The couple was married on July 14, 1945 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericksburg by Rev. J. Lammers.

    A homemaker, she is the former Margaret E. Reynolds of Bardstown.

    He is a farmer.

    They are members of the Church of the Annunciation.
