  • Birth: Moore daughter

    Rodney and Tiffanie Moore of Waddy announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on Feb. 28, 2011, at Baptist Hospital East. She has been named Leah Madison Moore.

    Grandparents are Donna Bruner of Waddy and the late Lloyd Bruner, George and Mary Moore of Pleasureville.

  • Birth: Smith son

    Nick and Mandy Smith of Fairdale announce the birth of their first child, a son, on March 22, 2011, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. He has been named Kingston Lee Smith. 

    Grandparents are Frank and Debbie Simpson of Shelbyville and Sonny and Sherry Smith of Louisville. His great-grandparents are Lloyd and Doris Cockeril, Ottilia Wilson of Louisville and the late Jerry Wilson.

  • Engagement: Balentine-Biagi

    Nathaniel and Melanie Balentine of Pine Bluff, Ark., announce the engagement of their daughter, DeeDee Balentine, to Marty Biagi of Shelbyville. He is the son of Stephen and Marie Biagi of Shelbyville.

    Balentine is a 2006 graduate of Watson Chapel High School and is finishing up her senior year at the University of Arkansas with a degree in animal science. She is currently an assistant manager at Pier 1 Imports.

  • Easter services: April 13, 2011

    Bagdad Baptist
    Easter Sunday services will be 8:30 Early Service, 9 Breakfast, 10: Sunday School, 10:45 Easter Service. The Youth will have a fundraiser Dinner Theater 6-8 p.m. on April 30 performing a play, “Virgil’s First Easter,” while serving dinner.  The youth are accepting donations and selling tickets.   • Birth: Myers son

    Paul Dean Myers II and Lynn Sherrall Farris of Shelbyville announce the birth of their fifth child, a son, on March 15, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East. He has been named Quincey Exavier Myers. He was born at 11:23 a.m. weighing 6 pounds and 8 ounces, 191/2 inches long. His siblings are Jayson G. Myers, 10; Lyndashia Farris, 6; Jaslyn Hatton, 5; and Bobby Joe Hatton, 4.

    Grandparents are Diana Farris of Shelbyville, and Cindy and Ron Harris of Bagdad. Great-grandparents are Dorothy Farris of Shelbyville and Patricia and George Reitzel of Florida.

  • Basic training graduate: Pfc. Andrew L. Ellcessor

    Ellcessor graduates

    Army Pfc. Andrew L. Ellcessor has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training. Ellcessor is the son of Gary Ellcessor of Frankfort Road. The private graduated in the year 2000 from Franklin County High School in Frankfort.

  • Basic training graduate: Airman Joshua Lee

    Air Force Airman Joshua T. Lee graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

    He completed an intensive, 8-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

    He is the son of Douglas and Deborah Lee of Old Briar Ridge Road in Mount Eden.

    Lee graduated in 2010 from Spencer County High School in Taylorsville.
