• 70th anniversary: Frances and John Joseph Moran Jr.

    Frances and John Joseph Moran Jr. have been married for 70 years. The couple was married on Oct. 25, 1941, at St. Brigid's Church by William Griesbaum.

    He retired in 1982 after 46 years of service as an electrician.

    She, the former Frances Griesbaum, is a homemaker.

    They are members of St. Michael Parish

  • Engagement: Brown-Leibig

    Randy and Marti Brown of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsey Brown, to Anthony Leibig. He is the son of Gloria Leibig of Jenkintown, Pa., and Ralph and Millie Leibig of Harveys Lake, Pa.

    She will graduate in December with her master’s in health science from the physician assistant program at Drexel University in Philadelphia and is a lieutenant and will practice medicine for the Air Force following graduation.

    Charles and Penny DeMastes of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Cindy DeMastes, to Kevin Crabtree Jr. He is the son of Kevin and Dr. Cindy Crabtree of Louisville.

    She is a graduate of Georgetown College and Pikeville School of Medicine and is a U of L resident physician at Kosair Children’s Hospital.

    He graduated from the University of Louisville and works at Humana in Louisville.

    The couple will be married in Louisville on Dec. 31.

    Mallory Jane Watts and Craig Garrett Potter were married 4 p.m. June 25, 2011, at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Louisville.

    Parents of the bride are Randy and Janie Watts of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Karen Potter of Raleigh, N.C, and Stephen and Sherry Potter of Fort Mill, S.C.

    Father Larry Legakisofficiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Randy Watts.

    Maid of honor was Caroline Biagi Watts of Shelbyville, sister of the bride.

    The Shelby County Car Club’s final cruise of the season was at Gallrein Farm.

  • Simpsonville: King and queen crowned

    Lilly Roadcap and Keaton Sanford-Baird were crowned queen and king of the Simpsonville Fall Festival. They are members of the Shelby County 4-H Dairy Club and students at Simpsonville Elementary. Lilly is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Roadcap, and Keaton is the son of Vicky Sanford-Baird and Keith Baird.

    Barbara and Victor Ray Fallis of Pleasureville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Julia Dawn Spaulding of New Castle, to Anthony Lee Smith of New Castle. He is the son of Doug and Cindy Smith of Bagdad.

    She is a 2003 graduate of Cornerstone Christian Academy and is pursuing a career in nursing.

    He is a 2001 graduate from Shelby County High School and a 2010 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture.

    Kenneth Raeuchle of Louisville and Sharon Fowler of Taylorsville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Karie Raeuchle of Louisville, to Donnie Madden of Shelbyville. He is the son of Darrell and Barbara Waits of Shelbyville.

    She is a graduate of Spencer County High and currently resides in Louisville. He is a graduate Shelby County High and lives in Louisville.

    The wedding will take place at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2011, at New Hope Church in Shelbyville.

    Angela Milburn of Mount Eden and Pete and Donna Milburn of Coxs Creek announce the engagement of their daughter, Shana Milburn of Mount Eden, to Jared Norton of Elizabethtown. He is the son of Bob and Judy Norton of Elizabethtown.

    Milburn is a 2001 graduate of Cornerstone Christian Academy and a 2010 graduate of Kaplan University. She is employed at the state medical examiners office. Norton is a 2000 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is employed at Budget Car Sales in Muldraugh.

    The wedding will take place in October in Bardstown.
