  • Engagement: LeCompte-Tillett

    Molly and Madison LeCompte announce the engagement of their sister, Tosha Denise LeCompte, to Thomas Leonard "Trae" Tillett III. They both are from Bagdad.

    She is the daughter of Chuck and Tara LeCompte of Frankfort and the granddaughter of Charles and Helen LeCompte of Frankfort, Rita Bright of Eminence, Jim and Mary Bell of Owensboro and the late Shirley Miller. She is a 2005 graduate of Western Hills High School, a student of BCTC and is employed by Vision First in Frankfort.

  • Engagement: Houchens-Patterson

    Zona Houchens of Louisville and Clarence Patterson of Finchville announce their engagement.

    They are both members of Faith Separate Baptist Church in Louisville. She is the mother of Mitchell Houchens of Louisville.

    Patterson, a native of London, retired from the Ford plant in 1992. He is the father of Sharon Warner of Louisville, Clayton Patterson of Ghent Connie Kendall of Cropper, Mary Jane "M.J." Patterson of Finchville, Clifford Patterson of Carrollton, Arlene Self of Shelbyville, Phillip Patterson of Bowling Green and the late Georgia Patterson.

  • Putting on the dog - and cat

    The Shelby County Humane Society's Runway & Rescue fundraiser Saturday night at the Henry Clay Building in downtown Louisville drew a packed house of animal and fashion lovers for a successful evening.  The amount raised has been announced.

  • BIRTH: Calvert son

    Jenna Faye Clemons and James Bradley Calvert both of Shelbyville announce the birth of their son, on Feb. 25, 2011 at Baptist East Hospital. He has been named James Lucas Calvert. He was born at 1:25 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 1.5 ounces and was 20.5 inches tall.

    Grandparents are Eddie and Joyce Singer of Shelbyville, Donald Osborne of Carrollton, Danny and Chris Calvert of Simpsonville, Bill and Michele Clements of Shelbyville, Sue and Tommy Newton of Waddy and the late Virgil Clemons.

  • BIRTH: Guagenti son

    Andrew Daniel and Alena Guagenti of Shelbyville announce the birth of their son on Jan. 22, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East. He has been named Gabriel Theodore Guagenti. He was born at 5:11 p.m., weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 inches talll. He has an older sister, Eden who is 1-year-old and 3-year-old brother Isaac.

    Grandparents are Theodore J. and Ana Stransky of Newburgh, Ind., Andrew V. and Nancy Guagenti of Bardstown. Great-Grandparents are Andrew and Charmenz Guagenti of Newburgh, Ind.

  • I'm one: David Thor Melanson III

    David Thor Melanson III celebrated his first birthday March 2, 2011. He is the son of Hanna Kathleen Warford and David Thor Melanson Jr. of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Ricky and Karen Warford of Shelbyville and David and Jan Melanson of Shelbyville. Great-grandparents are John and Anna Ruth Dutton, Don and Kathleen Riley, Bill Warford of Shelbyville and Marjorie M. Melanson of Glouchester Mass., the late Richard C. Melanson, Theresa Reed of Goffstown, N.H.,  and the late George Reed.

  • I'm one: Robert Lee Wood III

    Robert Lee Wood III celebrated his first birthday March 21, 2011.

    He is the son of Robbie and Lea Ann Wood of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Bobby and Shirley Wood of Shelbyville and Danny "Kac" and Beverly Newton of Bagdad. Great-grandparents are Garnett and Betty Newton of Bagdad, Sarah Stamper of Shelbyville, the late Arvin "Shorty" and Catherine Wood, and Sam and Rose Bryant.

    Wil Johnson, Will Hundley and Steven Zehnder served as floor pages for State Representative Brad Montell in the Kentucky House of Representatives on Feb. 18. Wil, Will and Steven are sophomores at Collins High School.

  • Touch of the Irish

    McKinley’s employees are gearing up for their second annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration Thursday, which will include Irish food, music and prizes. “We’re the only Irish restaurant in town, so we want to have fun, and we want our customers to also,” said Teresa McKinley (middle). Joining her are (from left) Barbara Rogers, Skip McKinley, Susan Everage and Tracy Gibson. Customers wearing green will earn a chance for a free Irish treat. 

  • Engagement: Hollensead-Knabel

    Paul and Dr. Sandra Hollensead of Simpsonville announce the engagement of their daughter, Celeste Michelle Hollensead of Louisville, to Andrew Edward Knabel of Louisville. He is the son of Edward and Linda Knabel of Louisville.

    Hollensead graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor's degree in biology and is currently a first-year student at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.

    Knabel is a graduate of the University of Louisville and received a bachelor's degree in sports administration.
