  • 4 generations: Waits

    Four generations of the Waits family recently gathered for a photo. Great-grandparents (seated) are Irene and Stewart Waits of Frankfort holding six-month old Emma Rae Berry. The grandmother is Phyllis Bailey (standing) of Bagdad and Ellen Berry of Shelbyville is the mother.

  • Birth: Parker Wiley

    Timothy and Kayla Wiley of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on Feb. 5, 2011 at Suburban Hospital Louisville. He has been named Parker James Wiley. He was born at 3:13 p.m. weighing 8 pounds 10.2 ounces and 22 inches long.

    Grandparents are James and Karla Riddle, Gayle and Brenda Wiley, all of Shelbyville.

  • Relay for Life days

  • Engagement: Ruble-Hedges

    Allen and Alana Ruble of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Beth Ruble, to Justin Hedges. He is the son of Gerald and Cindy Hedges of Waddy.

    Ruble is a 2006 graduate of Shelby County High School and will graduate in December 2011 from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.

    Hedges is a 2000 graduate of Western Hills High School of Frankfort and works for the Kentucky Department of Transportation.

    An August wedding is planned.

  • I'm one: Danica Marie Stephenson

    Danica Marie Stephenson will celebrate her first birthday May 5, 2011.

    She is the daughter of Dan and Jamie Stephenson of Lawrenceburg.

    Grandparents are Wayne and Nina Glass of Waddy, Doug and Kathy Sloan of Finchville, Hal and Debbie Thompson of Bettendorf, Iowa. Great-grandparents are Mary Tipton of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Hilda Purdum of New London, N.C.

    Four generations of the Patterson family gathered recently for a photograph. They are (seated) Clarence Patterson of Finchville, holding Madison Kane; and (standing from left) Olivia Kane, grandmother Sharon Warner of Louisville, McKenzie and mother Becky Kane. The Kane family is from Buckner.

  • 'Hope' concert

    The Shelby Christian Church Relay for Life Team will host its second annual "Hope" Benefit Concert on Sunday evening at the church. The event will feature local talent from the community as well as a time to recognize cancer survivors. Donations to Relay for Life will be accepted at the door. The 2010 event (pictured above) had an attendance of approximately 250, during the major storm with flooding.
